Q: 1. Is this unit compatible with the HighPoint ROCKETSTOR 6418TS which I own at the present? Can I connect it to my installed mini-sas adapter card?

A: Yes, the AS and TS models are compatible.

Q: 2. installing ru1144e on 2012 mac pro and yosemite with esata using lacie hard drive?

A: I put this in a 2010 Mac Pro and works like a dream.

Q: 3. will this be able to house an enclosure ( Icy Dock MB455SPF-B 5 Bays SATA II Enclosure (needs 3 5.25 bay opening )? it may seem like a 'duh read the description question, but I am just verifying

A: This is actually not a 'duh' question, but a very prudent one. I do not believe the enclosure would fit an enclosure inside as all of the existing mounting hardware in those drive bays will impede you from adding a box inside.

Q: 4. Did anyone discover which power adapter is compatible with the provided 12v power port?

A: If you search for 12V 3.5 x 1.35 mm Power Supply, there are various options on other retailers you can use. We do not sell one that is compatible.

Q: 5. Is this capable of RAID?

Q: 6. it is come with Mini-SAS (SFF-8088) cable ?

A: It needs 2 mini-sas cables.Just one I received.

Q: 7. what is the maximum of HDD size i can connect to this card? 2Tb, 4Tb, 6Tb etc?

A: The StarTech 4-Port (2 Internal/2 External) PCIe SATA 6 Gb/s Controller Card BH #STPEXEST322I does not have a drive size limitation.

Q: 8. Can these be connected to each other for expansion?

A: Up to 6 of this model can be daisy chained.

Q: 9. what its transfer speed with and without 12v Supply ?

A: The transfer speed is around 550MB/s. The 12v power connection does not affect transfer speed, but it is required for 3.5" drives, which will not run without a power source. 2.5" drives do not require this additional power and will not be affected by it.

Q: 10. Anyone ever try this with bmpcc 4k? Would be pretty cool to use any standard ssd with it. I already have a 12v supply.

A: I have not tested it in that specific configuration but if the SSD is SATA, it should work. It is something you would have to try out to really confirm.

Received and after having a number of cheaper smaller bays this one works a treat for me. Love it. Highly recommended

I've had this drive for a couple of years without failure. Yes, as some have mentioned, it runs pretty much continuously unless you set up some power management, but I prefer to shut my system down, and it powers down with it. I recently had the power supply fail in the device, just before the warranty expired, and I used their website's chat to contact them. They gave me the option to ship it to them or install the board myself (it was fairly simple), and I opted to install it myself. They shipped it to me quickly, and I was back up in very little time. With the new power supply, it turned out one of my drives failed, and I was getting some odd behavior from the lights, so I got back online with them, and the quickly got my system back up, with all of my data in place. They were friendly, professional, and fast. Electronics fail, and my experience with them turned a bad situation into a good experience.

i just bought this because I was having a lot of trouble with my OWC Thunderbay 4 bay with Thunderbolt 3. My drives were randomly getting ejected for no reason. There's some kind of mysterious problem with either the OS or the enclosure. Anyway I went out and got this guy and I really like it so far. Nice solid design. Quiet fan. It's relatively fast with the TB2. I've only had it for about two weeks so I don't know if I'll have the power supply problem a few others have mentioned but so far so good.
