The light beige Countryman E6i Directional Earset Mic, Medium Gain with Detachable 2mm Cable and LEMO 4-pin Connector for Vega Wireless Transmitters is a vocal microphone with a soft, flexible boom that facilitates its adjustment for different users. It's built with a larger silicone rubber earpiece making it better suited for situations when multiple users share the same mic.

The E6i earset can be used on either ear for capturing audio and rejecting unwanted sound, feedback, or surrounding noise from stage monitors or nearby speakers in houses of worship, theater, and outdoor vocal and speech applications.

The low-profile, directional E6i earset virtually disappears against the skin, so performers will forget they're wearing a mic. This version offers medium gain for very loud speaking, such as in theater performances and most vocals. Additionally, the earset comes with two pattern-changeable protective caps for maximum isolation and gain before feedback. This directional E6i earset's cable terminates to a LEMO 4-pin connector for direct connection to Vega 77 and 677 wireless bodypack transmitters.

The Countryman earsets are very small, lightweight, and the least visible headworn microphones.

The E6i is soft and highly flexible with a larger silicone rubber ear piece. When multiple users share a mic, the E6i is a great choice. The soft boom is durable and the flexibility makes it easy to adjust for different users.

The E6i's stainless steel boom is tough and can be bent and re-bent to fit different performers. It is highly resistant to makeup, sweat, and moisture when used with the supplied protective caps. The earset should always have a protective cap in place to keep sweat, makeup, and other foreign material out of the microphone.

The E6i earset's flexible boom is easily shaped right on the performer's face. Changeable protective caps let you shape the frequency response for different situations or to match other microphones. The directional earset protective caps adjust the pattern from cardioid to hypercardioid.

Easy adjustment keeps the mic in a comfortable position for rejecting unwanted sounds. The directional E6i earset provides more isolation and is suitable for situations where there are loud monitors, extreme feedback, or environmental noise.

The included removable, quick-swap cable detaches from the actual earset, making it completely replaceable in the event of a short or break. The replaceable cable design makes upgrading wireless microphone systems easy as they are available in a wide selection of connections to accommodate most wireless transmitters.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Why is the Sekonic Broncolor Transmitter Module a recommended accessory when it comes with the kit?

A: While not necessary since this SKU comes with the Broncolor transmitter module, we've listed it under the recommended accessories so customer with just the light meter would be able to quickly find the necessary module for Broncolor's radio triggering protocol if they were looking to "upgrade", per se.

Q: 2. The L858 is a complex device offering a wide range of features good for professionals. My question is whether the basic function of metering -- whether in reflective, spot or incident -- is more accurate AND consistent in this model over other less expensive Sekonic meters. Or, are you just paying for all the extra features?

A: The added features would give this meter a higher price point. Whether the added features are something you need depends on how you will use the meter primarily.

Q: 3. Does it work with the Phottix Odin II system?

A: The L-858D-U RT-EL/PX transmitter module operates on the Stratos II/Ares II protocol, which according to Phottix, does not trigger Odin II receivers*. As of 12/8/2020, there doesn't seem to be a firmware update yet available that might accommodate the Odin II system, or it might be a hardware incompatibility that is causing the restriction. *https://bit.ly/3nbSCRL

Q: 4. What is the difference between Sekonic Speedmaster L-858D-U and Sekonic Speedmaster L-858D?

A: Both models are the same. The U designation refers to the meter being sold within the US marketplace.

Q: 5. I've herd about the 10 camera profiles and this is great but how film friendly is this meter.i would like to profile my slide film but theirs more than 10 that I shoot.is this possible or am I asking to much of sekonic

A: It is not possible to create profiles for film the way you do for digital cameras. With variables such as emulsion batches and processing, you cannot guarantee consistency, plus the images would have to be scanned, introducing another variable-the scanner. The best thing to do is shoot some test film based on the meters reading, then evaluate them for good exposure and how much over/under exposure the film tolerates. If you feel that some over or under exposure is needed, you may manually enter compensation data into the meter. Same with dynamic range.

Q: 6. Does this meter also meter non radio transmitter flashes?

A: Certainly. You could either use cordless flash mode (light meter waits up to 90 seconds for a pop of flash) or synchro-cord mode (wired light meter to your flash via sync cable). For more info, check out page 73 of the manual here: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/lit_files/474654.pdf

Q: 7. What is the life-expectancy of the LCD touch screen?

A: There is no specific information about The LCD life-expectancy for the Sekonic Speedmaster L-858D-U Light Meter. I can say from personal experience that Sekonic light-meters are as robust as they come, most cinematographers and photographers only need to buy one in their lifetime.

Q: 8. Does the light "remember" the dim level and color temp level when the power cable/battery is removed and then restored? Or do you have to redo your settings if you remove the cable/battery?

A: Settings have to be reset when all power options are removed.

Q: 9. I own the 758. Any reason to buy the 858 if high-speed sync isn't a key feature for me?

A: The 758 is certainly a great meter. The 858 is MORE of a good thing. It measures in lower light. It has higher ISO input and lets you create your own ISO setting. It has a filter factor feature. Massively extended Cine/HD Cine display. 10 memory calibration. Flash duration measurement to get just the right amount of action stopping from studio flashes. A color display. HSS measurement (had to include that one). Radio triggering for PocketWizard, Elinchrom or Phottix Strato. faster operating touch screen control. And it does it all on 2 AA batteries.

Q: 10. What is the difference between L 858 d-u and L 858 d?

A: L-858D-U is the US version, the d-u is the international version and the difference would be in the frequency at which they opperate.
