The light beige Countryman E6 Omnidirectional Earset Mic, Low Gain with Detachable 1mm Cable and 3.5mm Locking Connector for Sennheiser Wireless Transmitters is a vocal microphone with an adjustable boom that weighs less than one tenth of an ounce and is designed to be used by only one person. Once adjusted, it will continually hold this shape.

The E6 earset can be used on either ear for capturing audio and rejecting unwanted sound, feedback, or surrounding noise from stage monitors or nearby speakers in houses of worship, theater, and outdoor vocal and speech applications.

The low-profile, omnidirectional E6 earset virtually disappears against the skin, so performers will forget they're wearing a mic. This version offers the lowest gain for the most powerful vocals that require the highest overload. In addition, the earset comes with three protective caps with different high-frequency response characteristics that control the amount of crispness or sibilance (response at 15 kHz). This omnidirectional E6 earset's cable terminates to a 3.5mm locking connector for direct connection to Sennheiser SK 2020-D wireless bodypack transmitters.

The Countryman earsets are very small, lightweight, and the least visible headworn microphones.

The classic E6 is a good choice when one person will wear the microphone. Because the boom is stiffer, it can be adjusted to fit, then stored away and quickly reworn.

The E6's stainless steel boom is tough and can be bent and re-bent to fit different performers. It is highly resistant to makeup, sweat, and moisture when used with the supplied protective caps. The earset should always have a protective cap in place to keep sweat, makeup, and other foreign material out of the microphone.

The E6 earset's flexible boom is easily shaped right on the performer's face. Changeable protective caps let you shape the frequency response for different situations or to match other microphones. This omnidirectional version includes three protective caps—+4 dB (bright), +8 dB (very bright) and +0 dB (flat)—that controls the amount of crispness or sibilance (response at 15 kHz.)

Easy adjustment keeps the mic in a comfortable position for rejecting unwanted sounds. The omnidirectional E6 earset provides more isolation and is suitable for situations where there are loud monitors, extreme feedback, or environmental noise.

The included removable, quick-swap cable detaches from the actual earset, making it completely replaceable in the event of a short or break. The replaceable cable design makes upgrading wireless microphone systems easy as they are available in a wide selection of connections to accommodate most wireless transmitters.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this have a filtration compensation mode?

A: The meter does have a filter compensation mode for exposure only. Click on the link below and see page 127 of the manual for the details of this function. https://static.bhphotovideo.com/lit_files/474654.pdf

Q: 2. When using the reflective metering on the Sekonic 858D, does anybody notice any fuzziness, or slightly out of focus appearance in the image when looking through the lenses to do the spot metering?

A: Once adjusted the spot meter is cristall clear. Bear in mind that it might take quite a few turns of the diopter ring (eye side) to accomplish sharp view.

Q: 3. Does it use a battery?

A: The Aputure LS 60x Bi-Color LED Focusing Flood Light BH #APLS60X comes with an AC cable. You can also use it with optional NP-F or V-mount batteries.

Q: 4. am from Asia 7 use PocketWizrd and Elinchrome ; can i also use this L-858D with the Sekonic RT-3PW Transmitter Module (433MHz, CE)?

A: Sekonic L-858D-U Speedmaster Light Meter Kit with Transmitter Module for Elinchrom & Phottix can be used in Asia as long as the triggers are also from the US.

Q: 5. Is there any chance of a Godox wireless module being or becoming available? Or a work around for the L-858D? I dying to move off my 478DR. Sadly the pull of Godox wins over the pull of yet another Sekonic meter.

A: Sorry, but there are no plans to incorporate Godox transmitter into Sekonic meters at the present time. However there is always a chance another brand could be added as Elinchrom and Phottix were.

Q: 6. B&H staff says below that this light does not adapt to fresnel system but F10 Fresnel Attachment is listed here - will it work?

A: I just put the F10 Fresnel on the small rig 220b The Fresnel did fit but it did not do as nice as a job as it does on the aputure lights.

Q: 7. Why does the manual say "Do not use at altitudes above 2,000m (6,561 feet)"?

A: It is due to cooling at high temperatures.

Q: 8. Is there any plan from sekonic to expand the wireless modules available? I really don't feel like buying a bunch of pocket wizard radios.

A: At the present time, Sekonic has no plans for additional radio compatibility. However that could always change in the future.

Q: 9. Is it correct that this kit only includes 1 v-mount battery plate?

A: Yes. Based on the product page, SmallRig RC 220B Bi-Color LED Monolight (2-Light Kit) only comes with a single SmallRig V-Mount Battery Plate. It would be best to add on an additional SmallRig V-Mount Battery Plate if you need them to both run on V-Mount batteries.

Q: 10. How often should it be calibrated?

A: Sekonic does not list a time frame to have the Sekonic Speedmaster L-858D-U Light Meter calibrated. If you see that the meter is off you need to contact Sekonic on that. Is the USA it is, https://bit.ly/3nSVZiF
