The light beige Countryman E6X Directional Earset Mic, Low Gain with Detachable 2mm Cable and cH-style 4-pin Connector for Audio Technica Wireless Transmitters is a versatile blend of the E6 and the E6i earset that features a springy, thin earpiece and a flexible boom and is suitable for use when a few people will be using the same mic.
The E6X earset can be used on either ear for capturing audio and rejecting unwanted sound, feedback, or surrounding noise from stage monitors or nearby speakers in houses of worship, theater, and outdoor vocal and speech applications.
The low-profile, directional E6X earset virtually disappears against the skin, so performers will forget they're wearing a mic. This version offers the lowest gain for the most powerful vocals that require the highest overload. Additionally, the earset comes with two pattern-changeable protective caps for maximum isolation and gain before feedback. This directional E6X earset's cable terminates to a cH-style 4-pin connector for direct connection to Audio Technica ATW-3201 wireless bodypack transmitters.

The Countryman earsets are very small, lightweight, and the least visible headworn microphones.
The E6 Flex or E6X offers a versatile blend of the E6 and the E6i. With a springy, thin earpiece and a flexible boom, the E6 Flex is secure on the ear and fast to fit without compromising true invisibility and sound.
The E6X's stainless steel boom is tough and can be bent and re-bent to fit different performers. It is highly resistant to makeup, sweat, and moisture when used with the supplied protective caps. The earset should always have a protective cap in place to keep sweat, makeup, and other foreign material out of the microphone.
The E6X earset's flexible boom is easily shaped right on the performer's face. Changeable protective caps let you shape the frequency response for different situations or to match other microphones. The directional earset protective caps adjust the pattern from cardioid to hypercardioid.
Easy adjustment keeps the mic in a comfortable position for rejecting unwanted sounds. The directional E6X earset provides more isolation and is suitable for situations where there are loud monitors, extreme feedback, or environmental noise.
The included removable, quick-swap cable detaches from the actual earset, making it completely replaceable in the event of a short or break. The replaceable cable design makes upgrading wireless microphone systems easy as they are available in a wide selection of connections to accommodate most wireless transmitters.
Related Questions and Answers
Q: 1. The L858 is a complex device offering a wide range of features good for professionals. My question is whether the basic function of metering -- whether in reflective, spot or incident -- is more accurate AND consistent in this model over other less expensive Sekonic meters. Or, are you just paying for all the extra features?
A: The added features would give this meter a higher price point. Whether the added features are something you need depends on how you will use the meter primarily.
Q: 2. What is the difference between L 858 d-u and L 858 d?
A: L-858D-U is the US version, the d-u is the international version and the difference would be in the frequency at which they opperate.
Q: 3. Is there any chance of a Godox wireless module being or becoming available? Or a work around for the L-858D? I dying to move off my 478DR. Sadly the pull of Godox wins over the pull of yet another Sekonic meter.
A: Sorry, but there are no plans to incorporate Godox transmitter into Sekonic meters at the present time. However there is always a chance another brand could be added as Elinchrom and Phottix were.
Q: 4. Will L 858D-U work outside US as I would be travelling for work often?
A: Sekonic L-858D-U Speedmaster Light Meter Kit with Transmitter Module for Godox does work outside of the USA.
Q: 5. Does this have a t-stop mode? When working with cinema lenses that use t stops instead of f stops, how can I use this light meter?
A: F/stops are arithmetically calculated based on the lenses physical size. The amount of light coming through the lens is therefore theoretical. This means two different lenses at f/5.6 could be passing different amounts of light. In the days of movie making film, this caused a great deal of problems for movie printmaking where the density of the image would vary greatly between shots. This would take extra time, effort and money to get a consistent print. To eliminate this problem, the 20th Century Fox camera department in the 1930's developed the T or Transmission stop. What they did is measure the amount of light coming through the lens and then set that as the T/stop. Since glass absorbs light, there is a light loss compared to f/stops. All this to say, there are no T/stop meters; they are all f/stop. Just read the meter, set that number on the T/stop ring and enjoy a consistent, lens to lens, exposure.
Q: 6. Does it come with a 7" reflector?
A: Yes, the SmallRig RC 220D Daylight LED Monolight does come with a Hyper Reflector.
Q: 7. How long does this meter take to boot up? From completely off to completely useable.
A: The start time is about 4 seconds from the time the power button is pressed and held.
Q: 8. What are the outer dimensions of the case that holds two SmallRig RC 220B lights?
A: Regarding the SmallRig RC 220B Bi-Color LED Monolight (2-Light Kit), the case that holds the two SmallRig RC 220B lights is 19.5 x 10.5 x 9.5".
Q: 9. Will Sekonic L-858D-U trigger /adjust flash Canon 600 EX-RT (with or without ST-E3-RT Speedlite Transmitter)?
A: It will only trigger Pocket Wizards or Elinchro/Phottix systems but you must buy the transmitter for either system separately. So in your case, you would need the Pocket Wizard module and a pair of Pocket Wizard Transmitter/Receivers to set up with your Canon speedlight. The meter would be able to allow you to adjust the output of the light if you use a Pocket Wizard Flex TT fo Canon attached to the light. You could always just manually trigger your flash and read the output with the meter in cordless flash mode. Then you wouldnt need a module or Pocket Wizards. But there are much less expensive Sekonics that could do the same thing. Hope this helps.
Q: 10. How many lumens of intensity does it have approximately? and also the equivalent to watts, how much would it be?
A: The photometrics are 98,700lux @ 1m with a hyper reflector. It is a 260w draw LED.
