If you need, you can add a small video head like the MVH500AH Fluid Video Head.

A: I can give two unofficial answers: (1) As an engineer who works with pressurized gases often, I'd bet a decent amount that the device is safe to travel in any aircraft. Consider: it has to maintain sealed pressure over years of use, and is surely built with a nice safety margin. So, a few hours at a very slightly higher delta-P is not going to make it fail. (2) Common sense suggests this tripod is unlikely to be noticed by anyone as a pressurized device; it's not exactly an aerosol can. But if you call attention to it, then our well-intended Barny Fife's of the world are almost certain to get excited. So, check it with confidence, and don't talk about it.
