A: This is a fixed lens, commonly called a prime lens, meaning that you cannot zoom in or out. It is fixed at a particular angle of view measured in millimeters, in this case 35mm. To change the angle of view, or focal length, you have to change lenses. You can, however, move closer or further from your subject and adjust your focus.If you want to zoom, you will need a zoom lens. Zoom lenses have variable focal lengths also measured in millimeters, for example 17-50mm. The 17mm is the widest or most zoomed out the lens can go, and the 50mm is the narrowest or most zoomed in the lens can go. Zoom lenses come in many different ranges. 17-50mm is a pretty standard length for everyday shots, but if you are taking shots of birds you will want something closer to a 70-200mm lens.

A: I believe that if you set the aperture ring on the lens to A you can use the rear wheel on the camera to adjust the aperture. There are a few lenses like the 27mm that don't have an aperture ring and must use the rear wheel. I don't have mine with me at the moment to test though.
