Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this work with Zoom?

A: Yes, the ATEN CAMLIVE will work with Zoom. In Zoom, change your video camera settings from your webcam to your respective camera with the ATEN CAMLIVE.

Q: 2. Will this work w/ an Ipad?

A: This will not work with an iPad.

Q: 3. Does it support Ethernet and display port simultaneously?

A: No, this dock does not have Displayport, however you can use both the Ethernet and HDMI ports simultaneously.

Q: 4. Assuming a high quality cable, will this be able to provide full USB 2.0 480 mpbs speeds at 164 feet? Thanks!

A: Yes, USB 2.0 can travel without signal degradation over 164 feet.

Q: 5. Can i use both PC and Mac together with this KVM?

A: Yes, you should have no issues using a PC and Mac with this KVM.

Q: 6. Can I use this capture card to send video from my PC laptop with HDMI output to the monitor with USB-C input?

A: Unlikely, because the signal sent by the capture card via USB is not a video signal, which is what the USB-C port on the monitor accepts. Typically capture cards only relay data to the software driver which turns it into useable video footage on your encoding software. Another way to think about it is: if you plugged a USB-C webcam into the monitor, would it work directly without an interfacing computer? That would be what the capture card essentially does; it turns your hdmi output video signal into data.

Q: 7. Does this device make the connected computers think the monitors are connected even when it is switched away, or will my computer redetect my monitors (and move my windows around) every time I switch systems?

A: The computer should not change the desktop as you swap between computers.

Q: 8. Does the UC3020 capture the audio in true 2 channel stereo? Or does it combine the stereo signal into 1 mono channel? To see in Windows 10: Search for "Sound Settings" then in the "Input" section, select the UC3020 (or whatever it is named) from the dropdown, then select "Device Properties" just below the dropdown. In the "Device properties" window, select "Additional device properties" then in the dialog box, select "Advanced" then see what it says in the Default Format.

A: The ATEN CAMLIVE HDMI to USB Type-C UVC Video Capture Adapter will capture true two-channel stereo if the HDMI source provides that. The same with one channel mono if provided from the source.

Q: 9. Will this give me a second display on Mac Mini M1 2020?

A: Yes, the ATEN USB Type-C Multiport Mini Dock does support adding a second screen to your Mac.

Q: 10. Is this an Ethernet extender or just a Cat5/6 Extender? HUGE difference between just retransmitting across CAT5 wiring and actually converting to Ethernet Frames, Only the latter would allow you to use with switches or other L2 devices in between, which is the scenario I'm trying to use it for. Not looking to run a dedicated line.

A: For what I bought it for and I believe what its designed for, is to just extend and transmit USB protocol past the recommend 6 feet. In my tests I was able to extend up to 150 ft. This is a P2P device.

I'm using several of these to extend RF wireless keyboard receivers in several rooms in my home to a KVM matrix switch that's located in a rack in the basement. These inexpensive extenders replaced far more expensive Startech KVM console extenders (I was only using the USB capability) and simplified the configuration by taking up less space and eliminating some wall wart power supplies. The money I can recover by selling the Startech extenders will more than pay for these. Highly recommended.

Used for digital cameraes + mouse/ keyboard. Does the job of extending your USB connection, but lowers your bandwidth. Stable. Had two pair of these - no connection problems.
