A: It offers several aspect ratios, but unless I go and set up the monitor I can not remember if it zoomes into the picture. I use it for DSLR and tested it for regular TV. I think it offers a good value for the price. The red rubber could be a little tighter i think.

A: The G7 turns off the HDMI out when recording. It has nothing to do with the Lilliput monitor.

A: The speakers in this monitor, and others like it, aren't great. Always best to use your headphones for monitoring. These speakers are just for reference audio.
