Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. What happens if the taking lens is outside of the specified range (e.g., 70-100mm for full frame)? Vingetting? Or something worse than that?

A: If you do not follow the guidelines and shoot outside of the focal range, you may have unusable footage that will not create the proper anamorphic effect.

Q: 2. What does the 50 in the name of this product mean?

A: I think it's a newer version of this anamorphic adapter. Before it was called 40.The one I got from here didn't have thumb screws to lock it. If I'm not wrong, you can now lock it

Q: 3. Sorry if the answer is too obvious, but I'm new to focal length, sensor sizes and filter threads. If I got it right, this /would/ work with a GoPro (1/2.3" sensor, less than 35mm) in linear mode (reportedly 19-39mm focal length, but I'm not sure about scaling) with the proper filter thread adapter (probably will need to be 3D-printed). Am I missing something? Do I need anything else?

A: This is a totally customized solution. It may work, but we have no insight in to how to make this happen.

Q: 4. I own a GH5 with the SLR Magic Anamorphot 2x. Could you advise me a lens around $680 that can fit? Thank's

A: For the GH5 MFT sensor size, SLR Magic suggests 20 to 85mm as the optimum focal lengths to be used. You need a lens that can take 62mm filters. SLR Magic primes are made for this but are out of your budget as well as the superb Veydra line of cinema lenses. Most Rokinions do not work since they take large than 62mm filters. However you are in luck for this lens does. Rokinon 50mm T1.3 Compact High-Speed Cine Lens for Micro Four Thirds B&H # RO5013CMF. $449.00.

Q: 5. can i mount it to pentax smc 50mm?

A: The Pentax SMC 50mm offers a 49mm filter thread. The SLR Magic can mount to the lens if using a step up ring from 49mm to 62mm. Example is Sensei 49-62mm Step-Up Ring B&H # SESUR4962 MFR # SUR-4962. https://bhpho.to/2wOnn6A

Q: 6. Will this work with the Voigtlander 25mm f/0.95?

A: This works best with high f stops minimum f 4 it doesnt work with fast lenses

Q: 7. Ive been trying to aling this, but the ring screw mechanism is terrible, any tips?

A: Absolutely agree. My only advice is be patient. Screw it very slowly and carefully. After some time, it seems to screw a little easier. Good luck.

Q: 8. What is the minimum foccusing distance ? Will the diopters for 1.33x model work with this model as well?

A: On the Anamorphot-50 2.0x adapter the near adjustment allows you to focus on subjects closer than approximately 26' away, setting the adapter to normal allows you to focus on subjects from approximately 26' to infinity. Please keep in mind that this unit is designed to go on lenses with a 62mm filter thread, minimum focus distance will depend on the lens it is being used on. The 1.33x model when set to near adjustment allows you to focus on subjects closer than 6.5' away, setting the adapter to normal allows you to focus on subjects from 6.5' to infinity.

Q: 9. I'm having a hard time removing the step-up ring, how do I unscrew it?

A: Get a pair of thick rubber gloves for the kitchen. It will give you the grip you need. I have had no issues with mine, but did it to a friend's lens that the ring was stuck and it came off fine.

Q: 10. Will this work on my Sony X70 Camcorder (it has a 62mm Front thread)?

A: While you may be able to physically connect the Anamorphic Adapter to the PXW-X70, we are not sure how well it would actually work. That is something you would need to test out to see the results. This adapter is a Returnable Item at this time.
