Q: 1. I recently purchased this camera. Does the face detect, touch focus work in manual mode? I have been having difficulty making that work.

A: No, In manual mode the camera would be in manual control mode and not support automatic features like Autofocus.

Q: 2. What is the minimum focus distance at wide angle and at telephoto?

A: While the manufacturer does not issue official statements about the minimum focus distance of this or many other of its similar camcorders, in our experience, at the widest end of its zoom range, this type of camcorder can focus at a distance of approximately 39.4" (1m). It is sometimes helpful to switch to manual focus to get to that closest distance.

Q: 3. Hi. The specs say there are two XLR inputs, but I only see one in the photos. Where is the second one located? Thanks.

A: There is a second XLR input on the right side of the Panasonic HC-X2 4K Camcorder near the back towards the bottom of the camera. Unfortunately it is not visible in the product pictures that we have been supplied but you can see it's location using the user manual provided just below the "In the Box" section of the overview tab. The XLR input is fist show as number 61 on page 20 of the manual.

Q: 4. What is Frequency? Does it refer to NTSC or Pal?

A: The Panasonic HC-X2 4K Camcorder is an NTSC camera.

Q: 5. Are there any improvements to the LCD regarding reflections? On the X1, the LCD is unusable in the sun. Significant improvement?

A: The screen on the HC-X2 has no more NITS than the X1 model. For use in the bright conditions, the provided EVF is what is meant to be used.

Q: 6. Does this item have the capability of using an external focus control?

A: Yes, you can add a gear ring with a focus motor or follow focus unit to the Panasonic HC-X2.

Q: 7. Does it record in Prores?

A: The Panasonic HC-X2 4K Camcorder does not record Apple ProRes files. The two file types supported are MOV/MP4 and AVCHD formats.
