Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this work on the 5DM4? I don't see it listed but they just sold it to me.

A: The Canon IFC-150U II USB 3.1 Gen 1 Interface Cable for DSLRs B&H # CAIFC150UII is the compatible USB cable for the 5D Mark IV body. https://bhpho.to/2WJyTej

Q: 2. What cable will interface a canon r7 with a PC to download photos?

A: The Canon R7 camera has a USB-C connection. So you would need a USB-C plug on 1 end and either USB-C or USB-A on the other depending on the type of USB your computer uses.

Q: 3. Does this cable work with the regular 7D? It is not the mark 2 version.

A: I'm sorry, no, they do not take the same cables. You will need a mini b cable. Click the link below to view; https://bhpho.to/2Asz3Bs

Q: 4. Will this work on the Mark 1D X Mark II?

A: Yes, the Canon IFC-500U II would be compatible for use with the Canon EOS 1D X Mark II DSLR camera. Do note that, as indicated on page 485 of the camera's instruction manual, with the IFC-500U II, the communication speed will be equivalent to Hi-Speed USB (USB 2.0).

Q: 5. Does the Canon IFC-500U II USB 3.1 Gen 1 Interface Cable for EOS 7D Mark II, 5DS, or 5DS R DSLR Camera come with a cable protector ?

A: No Robert it does not come with a cable protector unfortunately . It's only when you buy the camera that you get the cable protector. I would recommend calling Canon directly for that piece

Q: 6. Is it better than Thether tool company's thethering cable ??

A: Absolutely not, this cord is worse that Tether Tools. While I am a huge fan of Canon and Canon brand ( I will buy Canon brand-only on most items, AC cord, batteries, remotes, Speedlites), I have to say that Tether Tools is 10x the cable as this. I use a 5DSr tethered to a fast-as-you-can-buy gaming PC, and when I do automated focus stacks with Helicon Focus, running Live View on a constant 4K monitor, I notice a huge and I mean HUGE speed/refresh rate between the 2 cords. Tether Tools is a larger-diameter cable that supports faster travel of more data, and plus the Tether Tools cable has the option of being powered from an AC supply, also boosting speeds and saving on battery power. Tether tools is shielded so nothing interferes with signal, and there is very little data loss or noise. Tether Tools comes with devices that protect the connectors, and also they make right-angle versions as well, coming in either black or a high-visibility orange. Is this Canon-brand cable nice? Yes, undoubtedly. It is a good enough cord to trasnfer jpegs to a PC. But if you want to do video, tether, stack, transfer fast, use Magic Lantern, then, um....no. This is ONE of the very few cases where 3rd-party trumps OEM, mainly because the 3rd-party item is made to do a job that the Canon designers didn't prioritize (transfer speed and refresh rates). When I have my camera hooked into my microscope where the DoF is .008mm then I need refresh speed! When I am doing a shot of a platinum ring at 1:1 magnification in a 30-shot composite Live View stack, I need refresh speed! When I am shooting RAW bursts of 50mb files that expand to 300mb TIFF....I need speed!!!

Q: 7. This cable looks like it will work on Nikon D850. Can you confirm?

A: Thhe correct cable for the Nikon 850 is, Nikon UC-E22 USB 3.0 Cable B&H # NIUCE22 MFR # 27146 $24.50. Looks like they are interchangeable.

Q: 8. Will this work on the Mark 5DIII or is this specifically for the 7D?

A: Actually I bought this cable to use with the Nikon D800 .

Q: 9. I have a canon eos 5d mark II (2). Can I use this cable?

A: Try using the cable suggested Canon IFC-200U USB. This cable is more suitable as the one you are enquiring about has a USB3.0 and not compatible with the EOS 5D Mk2.

Q: 10. Will this work with the Canon EOS R5 camera?

A: The Canon IFC-500U II USB 3.1 Gen 1 Interface Cable for EOS 7D Mark II, 5DS, or 5DS R DSLR Camera is incompatible with the Canon EOS R5 Mirrorless Camera. If you need to connect the Canon R5 to a computer with a USB-A port, get the Pearstone USB-C 3.1 to USB-A Charge & Sync Cable (3'), BH #PEUSB313CMA3.
