A 77mm FL-D Filter from Formatt is used when you wish to correct for the greenish tone that appears when shooting daylight film under general purpose fluorescent lighting.

An FLD differs from other "FL" series filters. An FL-W filter is used to balance daylight film under warm white or white type fluorescent lamps. An FL-B filter is used to correct the color balance when shooting tungsten film under fluorescent lighting. Fluorescent lamps burn at many different temperatures and often require more demanding filtration for exact results.

For specific filtration and professional use, it is strongly recommended that a color temperature meter be employed along with Color Correction filters (i.e.CC30M) when shooting under fluorescent lighting. This is the only proven way to achieve exact color correction.

The FL series of filters alone does not always guarantee 100% correct color balance when shooting under fluorescent lighting. They are general purpose filters intended for moderate correction and will not, by themselves, necessarily provide perfect color rendition. Use of a color temperature meter is strongly recommended along with Color Correction filters.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. What happened if I mount it to full frame Sigma FP ?

A: Canon FD lenses are desing for 35mm films which translate to a digital full frame sensor. Metabones Canon FD/FL-Mount Lens to L-Mount Speed Booster ULTRA 0.71x is going to increment the lens angle of view when shooting in full frame. In this case you will need to select the camera APSC sensor option in order to avoid vignette.

Q: 2. How does this lens work with the teleconverter ? Anyone have any pictures so I can compare ?

A: The Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 70-200mm f/2.8E FL ED VR Lens is fully compatible with all 3 of Nikon's current teleconverters, the 1.4x, 1.7x and 2x. In my opinion teleconverters do slightly lower the optical quality of a lens as compared to using a longer (similar quality) lens. But the convenience of carrying the 70-200mm plus a small teleconverter usually outweighs the slight improvement you get from using a 2nd large and heavy longer lens.

Q: 3. Which is the optimal monopod for the Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 70-200mm F/2.8E FL ED VR lens?

A: There are many monopods that can be used, but a high quality option that is very strong and reliable and gets very tall when opened, is this Gitzo. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1286941-REG/gitzo_gm4552l_series_4_carbon.html

Q: 6. Is the Autofocus of this lens compatible with Z7 and FTZ? I see the answer which indicates that it works with Z7 and FTZ but I want to make sure that also implies the Autofocus function. Thank you.

A: Yes, this lens will autfocus with the Z7 and FTZ adapter.

Q: 7. Is this nikon 70_200 work with nikon d7200 ?

Q: 8. Will the tripod foot fit into a standard arca-swiss receptacle?

A: No. You will need to purchase an adapter to screw to the Nikon lens base to mount to your head. Buy one on the long side to find the center of gravity for different and possible bodies.Alan in Missoula

Q: 9. What does the FL mean in the description (FL ED VR) as to compared to the (ED VR) ??

A: Fluorite (also called fluorspar) is the mineral form of calcium fluoride, CaF2. It belongs to the halide minerals. It crystallizes in isometric cubic habit, although octahedral and more complex isometric forms are not uncommon.Fluorite is a colorful mineral, both in visible and ultraviolet light, and the stone has ornamental and lapidary uses. Industrially, fluorite is used as a flux for smelting, and in the production of certain glasses and enamels. The purest grades of fluorite are a source of fluoride for hydrofluoric acid manufacture, which is the intermediate source of most fluorine-containing fine chemicals. Optically clear transparent fluorite lenses have low dispersion, so lenses made from it exhibit less chromatic aberration, making them valuable in microscopes and telescopes. Fluorite optics are also usable in the far-ultraviolet and mid-infrared ranges, where conventional glasses are too absorbent for use.

Q: 10. Have the focus breathing issues been addressed?

A: That's what they're saying yes. Check out the new design and you'll get a sense how they solved it
