Related Questions and Answers
Q: 1. Is there any provision for setting the f/stop if this is used with current lenses without f/stop ring?
A: Unfortunately, a Pentax K mount lens would need to have an aperture ring in order to use the Fotodiox Macro Bellows properly.
Q: 2. What's the maximum useable lens diameter? Everything I own takes a 77 mm filter.
A: The diameter has no bearing, the lens mounts to the bellows via the rear mount.
Q: 3. What other parts do I need to use the bellows on my Nikon D5300 camera?
A: The FotodioX Macro Bellows for Nikon F Mount Camera Systems, B&H # FOMBNFMCS, would connect directly to the Nikon D5300 DSLR camera, and the lens would connect directly to the front of the bellows. The only other item you would need would be a tripod to mount the setup on the tripod for usage. Do note that you will have to use the camera in full manual mode when using the bellows system on your camera.
Q: 4. When it says minimum extension 1.6, does that mean the minimum distance between flanges?
A: Poor mount, Don't waste you're time!!
Q: 5. Two questions: 1) is it necessary to use a lens designated as macro with this bellows and 2) if using a lens without a manual aperture ring (Nikon), it will stay wide open, is that right?
A: Question 1, no you don't need to use a macro specific lens with the bellows. Question 2, the bellows unit doesn't any sensors on it to connect with your camera, meaning everything is going to be manual. The rails on the unit do get in the way at times if you plan on using a ring flash.
Q: 6. How is the aperture controlled?
A: The following unit is a manual adapter, so lens functions that rely on electronic communication with the camera body (autofocus, AE metering, image stabilization, etc.) will be disrupted. 'Focus-By-Wire' lenses (such as Canon's STM or Nikons AF-P) requires power to engage the manual focus rings on the lens, since manual lens mount adapters do not power the lens, those lenses will not be able to focus. Set your exposure manually or meter using your camera's Aperture Priority (stop-down) mode. If your lens does not have a manual aperture control ring, the lens aperture will revert to its default position, which depending on the lens is either stopped down to its largest f-stop or opened up to its smallest f-stop.
Q: 7. Can I use the z mount 105 micro lens with this bellows?
A: Yes, you can use the FotodioX Macro Bellows for Nikon Z with the Nikon NIKKOR Z MC 105mm f/2.8 VR S.
Q: 8. How does this mount to a tripod head? Does it mount to some sort of plate, and the plate mounts the tripod head?
A: There is a mounting screw / threads on the bottom of the back plate. No extra hdwr needed
Q: 9. Looking to explore more macro photography and not ready to purchase a dedicated macro lens. Can this Bellows be used with regular and telephoto zoom lens such as the Canon 100-400 and the sigma 18-250 as well as the Canon wide 10-18? The Sigma does have a macro listing with a min distance of1.16ft
A: This will work with your 18-250 and 10-18 but the 100-400 is too big and heavy.
Q: 10. Does this bellows work with the canon 5d mark IV without using an extension tube?
A: You can use this bellows with out a extension tube.
