Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this manual focus lens have focus confirmation?

A: I have the Canon EF version and it confirms great on my Canon bodies. I also some Sony bodies and using the MC-11 adapter, there is no focus confirmation, although focus peaking works well there. Not sure if there would be focus confirmation with the native Sony FE version of this lens. Works great on Canon though.

Q: 2. How does this lens perform on a Canon R5 with an EF-RF adapter? Any drop in image sharpness or AF?

A: The Sigma 60-600mm f/4.5-6.3 DG OS HSM Sports Lens for Canon EF is fully compatible with the Canon R5 when using the Canon EF to RF adapter. There is no loss in optical quality or focusing speed when using the adapter.

Q: 3. is camera compatible with final cut pro studio, the old final cut editing system?

A: It is compatible with FCP X. It should work with previous versions as well.

Q: 4. Is the E-mount version of this lens actually under 10cm long? I thought it was more like 12cm.

A: This lens measures approx. 2.99 x 3.89 (76 x 98.9 mm).

Q: 5. Does anyone have any experience using this on an a6600, and does anyone have a photo of the pair?

A: This lens works very well on the A6600. The focus is fast and accurate.

Q: 6. Is this lens parfocal?

A: The Sigma 60-600mm f/4.5-6.3 DG OS HSM Sports Lens is not a true parfocal lens.

Q: 7. Is the Sigma 60-600mm f/4.5-6.3 DG OS HSM Sports Lens for Nikon F fully compatible with the Nikon D4? I see it is listed as being fully compatible with a Nikon D4S.

A: Yes. This lens is fully compatible with the Nikon D4.

Q: 8. Does it work with focus assist on A7RII and a6500? Does it transmit data to the camera?

A: 1. Yes, it is easy to focus manually using focus assist etc on my A6000.2. No information is transmitted to my A6000.It produces lovely portraits, with a beautiful background.

Q: 9. I want to know if this lens has an AE chip built-into in order to get focus confirmation as well as the use of Auto/P/A/S/M shooting modes due to the transmission of lens data to the camera? Thanks

A: The Venus Optics Laowa 105mm f/2 Smooth Trans Focus Lens for Nikon F have no electronic contacts nor an AE chip, so there would be no exposure information, EXIF data, metering, or focus confirmation information transmitted to the camera. This is a fully manual lens.

Q: 10. If the apperture (fstop) and Tstop are controlled separately, does that mean i can be at F2.0 (f2 background blue) while at t8 (t8 light input) ?

A: Short answer, a qualified yes. This lens has beautiful bokeh, and is very easy to use on an e-mount camera. There are two separate aperture rings that produce a single final aperture. The widest final aperture occurs at f2.0 and T3.2. When you set f2.0 and ratchet the T-stop from 3.2 to 8, the final aperture does decrease continuously. The f-stops click, but the T-stops are smooth. At T8, you won't see any real change in the final aperture above about f4. At T3.2, all f stops are useful and the final aperture changes as it clicks through the f-stops. In summary, the T and f stops both allow you to control the final aperture, but it does not magically disconnect bokeh and light transmission.
