Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Are there any overheating issues with the Pocket Cinema 4k?

A: As long as you don't use the camera in high temperature environments (above 104F) or block the exhaust vents on the bottom of the camera, there shouldn't be any overheating issues.

Q: 2. what is the expected date where we see real people using this camera rather than vlogger/tech companies?

A: I have mine in hand now, and am just a small video production house owner.

Q: 3. Is it possible to use USB-C output for Atomos products? HDMI seem to have limited output performance while USB-C have better output but I dont see any options for external recorders.

A: The USB-C is for disk drives formatted HFS+ or ExFat. We will have a list of recommended drives on our website soon. There is more information in the manual which may be downloaded from our website.

Q: 4. Does this support power zoom lenses and would the zoom be remotely controllable with an ATEM series switcher?

A: Yes, an ATEM can control a compatible servo zoom mounted on a Blackmagic Design Pocket Cinema Camera 4K.

Q: 5. I know the screen is very flimsy on the canon. Will this hold the structure? For instance, can you put the rig in the bag without worring about stress on the delicate screen joint?

A: The Z-finder will not apply stress to the screen joint. The Z-finder mounts to the cage and has a metal guide to prevent it from apply pressure to the screen.

Q: 6. Can I transfer files from SD card/CF Card to SSD drive through the camera itself? If I am backing files up.

Q: 8. Can you please add the dual recording function? I don't mind if I only can record 1080 prores lt or even just prores proxy on the other card. I just wanna make sure I have a backup file... Please make this happen.

A: We will pass this request to Product Management. Thank you.

Q: 9. I know that the camera has 1.9x crop. But if I buy a 35mm (for example) lens with MFT mount...what focal distance will I have? 35 or 70 (almost) ?

A: Any lens with a MFT mount would be made for the sensor and assume the correct focal length. So a 35mm MFT lens will be 35mm.

Q: 10. can I record 4:3 aspect ratio

A: There is no direct support for 4:3.
