Related Questions and Answers
Q: 1. Will this work with: Sigma 45mm f/2.8 DG DN Contemporary Lens for Leica L
A: This will depend on the camera you are using in this equation. That camera must have a 4:3 anamorphic mode as this is a 2.0x adapter. Also it will need to be in the APS-C format as this adapter supports focal lengths between 35 and 100mm for APS-C and MFT format sensors. For a full frame sensor it supports 70 to 100mm for full-frame format sensors and the Sigma 45mm would be too wide. If you are within the proper parameters for the camera being used you would then need a 55-62mm adapter, BH #SESURPA5562.
Q: 2. Will this work on a Sony 50mm 1.4?
A: We're afraid not. The Sony lens you are referring to has both a filter thread and outer diameter that is too large.
Q: 3. I would like to use this adapter with my Zeiss prime lenses, on a D810, with my 85mm and 100mm lenses. What is the best kind of step-down ring to use, since the thread sizes on my lenses are all larger than the recommended 58mm?
A: here's what can tell you...if the filter threads on your lens are larger than 62mm on a full frame sensor, it will vignette. i have a very special manual zoom lens that is so sharp, i don't really understand it. the threads are 72mm, and it vignettes so badly that in order to correct it the horizontal crop is almost 4:3. on super35, it's still no good. it is what it is. i really like this adapter. i have two (with the range finder-it's a must have). hope this helps.from their website, they suggest full frame sensors with 40-85mm lenses. in fact, for any sensor size, they recommend a max of 85mm. for fun, i put one on my old Canon XA10 and zoomed it to 200mm. it looked fine. i know it's a big purchase for most, so make sure you have lens specs that they suggest.
Q: 4. What does the 50 in the name of this product mean?
A: I think it's a newer version of this anamorphic adapter. Before it was called 40.The one I got from here didn't have thumb screws to lock it. If I'm not wrong, you can now lock it
Q: 5. Would this work with the A7Siii and a Sony Zeiss 50mm?
A: Unfortunately, the SLR Magic Anamorphic Adapter mounts to lenses with 62mm front thread. The Sony Zeiss 50mm has a 72mm filter front.
Q: 6. Will this work with the Rokinon 50mm T1.5 lens ?
A: The anamorphic adapter will work best with lenses that offer a threading of 62mm or less and a front element diameter of 50mm or less. You can work with a larger threading but it is not optimal. The Rokinon 50mm T1.5 lens offers a 77mm with a lens element diameter not that far off. A lot of these taking lenses have to be experimented with what work best.
Q: 7. I own a GH5 with the SLR Magic Anamorphot 2x. Could you advise me a lens around $680 that can fit? Thank's
A: For the GH5 MFT sensor size, SLR Magic suggests 20 to 85mm as the optimum focal lengths to be used. You need a lens that can take 62mm filters. SLR Magic primes are made for this but are out of your budget as well as the superb Veydra line of cinema lenses. Most Rokinions do not work since they take large than 62mm filters. However you are in luck for this lens does. Rokinon 50mm T1.3 Compact High-Speed Cine Lens for Micro Four Thirds B&H # RO5013CMF. $449.00.
Q: 8. Is it possible to find somewhere comparison with and without adapter. I just want to see the difference in angle view between adapter and just lens without adapter?
A: You can check Tom Antos channel on YouTube
Q: 9. I wish to use this on my GH4/5 in combination with my Sigma 35mm 1.4 art and metabones speedbooster XL 0.64x canon mount. I've seen a video on youtube that shows this working with the correct step up/down rings but just wanted to check it would be ok.
A: While we do not know of this particular combination nor can we test it, we do know that SLR Magic says you can go as wide as a 35mm on the MFT sensor. Also step down rings from the larger lens to the smaller adapter seems not be a problem. The problem shows up when you use lenses wider than 35mm on MFT sensors like in the GH4/5. We see no issues saying no at this time.
Q: 10. What proportions would this lens yield on 2:3 full-frame sensor, such as the 5D MII?
A: 3.00:1 is our opinion.
