A: Yes. we suggest using external power sources such as dummy battery or d-tap into v-mount batteries.

A: It depends on the recording format that you choose. If you choose any of the XAVC S-I codecs you will need a V90 SDXC card. V60 cards are not fast enough to record the XAVC S-I codec which can get up to 600Mbps. if you choose XAVC HS or lower you can use V60 SDXC cards.

Q: 3. I'm hearing the grip is different than the A7SIII, so will it take the VG-C4EM battery grip?

A: Unsure if the grip is different but the a7 IV does take the same VG-C4EM Vertical Grip as the a7S III.

Q: 4. Does selecting XAVC-S-I improve rolling shutter on A7 IV?

A: XAVC-S-I won't improve rolling shutter. It will help when editing and grading the footage, it will show less artefacts and distortions. Also with fast moving subjects it will show less distortions.

Q: 5. The Sony a7iv can NOT do full frame oversampled 4k30p in H.256 according to Sony's website and this B&H product specs page. It can only do oversampled 4k30 in other codecs like h.264 or XAVC S-I. So this camera has no 4k30 in H.265, is that correct? :(

A: 4K60p is only available from a Super 35 recording area. Up to 4K30p is possible using the full-frame area (with full pixel readout and 7K oversampling).

A: No. The A7IV does not have built in automatic focus bracketing.

A: White balance performance on the Sony Alpha a7 IV Mirrorless Digital Camera has been improved, and when using the Sony HVL-F60RM2 and HVL-F46RM, automatic correction of white balalce will be applied based on the color temperature information from the flash. The new system also links face detection for auto white balance (AWB) and flash level control which helps to give natural color tone on faces.

Q: 8. Does this camera have the same shutter as the A7III, or has it been updated?

A: Sony does not specify the model number of the shutter, so it is hard to know, but since newer cameras that came after the a7iii have not had the same shutter issues as the a7iii has, it makes me believe the shutter has been updated.

A: Sony hasn't said anything specific about the dynamic range or brightness of the screen, but there is a bit of a resolution bump between generations (1.03m-dot vs 922k-dot), so the quality should be a bit cleaner and sharper. The screen also now has a vari-angle design instead of just a tilting design, so it'll be easier to position the screen for a clearer view depending on your shooting angle.
