Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can I use my SEL1018 APSC e mount lens to shoot 4k 60p footage considering the super 35 crop factor?

A: If you shoot video in Super 35 format using the Sony E 10-18mm f/4 OSS Lens, you should experience little to no vignetting, depending on the focal length you use: 10-13mm might show some vignetting; 14-18mm should not show any.

Q: 2. When the camera is off, I can hear a clunking sound when I rotate the camera. Is this normal?

A: What you hear is the in body stabilization system which is normal?

Q: 3. Picture effects, creative styles, scenes and Panorama are not listed at all on the Sony site or here. Best guess would this camera also include these?

A: As previously said, Picture Effects & Creative Styles will be on the camera. Scenes & Panorama are unknown at this moment in time.

Q: 4. does it have clear image zoom on photo and video. I plan to use this camera for overseas trip with only 1 prime lens?

A: Unfortunately, the A7 IV lacks Clear Image Zoom.

Q: 5. is there a timelapse present?

A: The camera does have the Interval Shoot Func. that will allow you to manually make your own timelapse. If you're looking for a way to make Timelapses (and not have to convert images to a video) alternatively you can use S&Q mode to make short timelapses in camera.

Q: 6. It says this camera records 4K at 60fps but people say it is only 30fps. Which is it, please ?

A: The Sony A7IV does shoot in 4K60, but can only do so in Super35 crop mode.

Q: 7. Does the s and q mode play back in slow mo like on the fx3?

A: Yes. The Sony A7IV (as well as other Sony mirrorless cameras and compacts) plays back videos shot in S&Q mode in slow-motion. Rate of slow-motion shot in S&Q depends on your S&Q settings made via the menu.

Q: 8. Is there a red border on the display while recording video, like the A7S III and FX3?

A: Yes, this has a setting to allow you to highlight the borders of the A7IV's LCD screen during recording.

Q: 9. Would this be a good camera to use the aps c mode

A: Yes, the Sony a7 IV Mirrorless Camera (B&H# SOA74) allows for use in cropped (APS-C) mode both during video and still shooting. That cropping increases the effective focal length by 50%, something that video shooters in particular will especially appreciate.

Q: 10. I'm hearing the grip is different than the A7SIII, so will it take the VG-C4EM battery grip?

A: Unsure if the grip is different but the a7 IV does take the same VG-C4EM Vertical Grip as the a7S III.
