The Nalpak TP-0729 Tuffpak Hard Tripod Case (Black) is an octagonal case that will snugly hold a tripod with a length of 29-34" and up to a 75mm ball head. Each case is made from rotationally molded cross-linked polyethylene. The process takes nearly 45 minutes per case and produces a durable tripod case. The tripod case comes with 2.0" of foam in the lid and the base to protect the equipment. The foam in the lid is glued in and the foam in the base (which is protected from the feet of the tripod by a plastic disk) is held in place by detents that are molded into the base of each case. The case is carried by a molded-in handle.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is 2545T a much stronger tripod than 1545T? I noticed there is a $300 difference but both are supporting about the same working height!!

A: The GT2545T is a Series 2 while the GT1545T is a Series 1. The Series 2 has thicker legs so that makes for a more rigid hold. Its suggested to move up to a Series 2 if you routinely shoot with lenses up to 300mm. If you don't plan on going above a 200mm then the Series 1 should be adequate.

Q: 2. What is the lowest working high after removing the central column For 2545T? Thanks

A: With its included short center column inserted, the tripod gets down to 22 cm.

Q: 3. Is it possible to change the rubber feet for spikes? Gitzo spec sheet denotes the tripod GT1545T as not interchangeable feet but I see that someone has lost the rubber foot.

A: Gitzo does not make spikes for this tripod, but as Henry stated, if you can find a set with the same thread pitch (1/4 -20) then these rubber feet can be removed.

Q: 4. Can you fold up this tripod with the RRS BH-30 tripod head attached?

A: You can fold it up but not fully with most heads attached including the RRS BH-30.

Q: 5. Is there a hook available to install under the platform once the column is removed?

A: When the column is removed, there is only an opening.

Q: 6. Would this be a good choice for a KES BH-1, Nikon D750 & Nikkor 200mm f/2 combo? Or for a star tracker, D750 & 14-24mm f/2.8?

A: Yes. The Gitzo GIGT2545T Traveler Series 2 Carbon Fiber Tripod will support the items you listed.

Q: 7. Will this tripod fold over the Arca Swiss P0 ballhead? What is the tripod's top base diameter?

A: Not perfectly but adequately. The P0 is a superb head but I find I no longer need it as I only use a tripod for landscapes and interiors - not with long glass. The RRS BH-25 has a base almost exactly the same diameter as the GT1545T top plate but the legs don't even fold perfectly over that head. I now use a BH-30 which also doesn't allow perfect leg fold over but in all other respects seems a perfect match.

Q: 8. Is theiir a hook aus on the gt2542t ?

A: It does not but between two leg hinges on the bottom edge of the base there is a built in ring/pass through. It's meant for the shoulder strap but you could easily but an S Hook in it and hang a bag. It's slightly offset from center but not by far. It's heavy duty and not going to break off.

Q: 9. Center column is useless for me. Can the center column be removed to reduce the weight further?

A: Yes, one can remove the center column to reduce the weight of the tripod..

Q: 10. Is this tripod sturdy enough for the long exposures needed for night photography?

A: Yes, I've been using this tripod for a couple of years now. No problem with time exposures- even in slight wind. I also have a quality Arca Swiss head on it.
