Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. is this Nitrotech different from the traditional fluid head? thanks

A: It's a slightly different engineering concept (nitrogen pistons) than a traditional fluid head, but functions the same way. :)

Q: 2. Will Manfrotto 190L tripod accommodate this head?

A: Yes it will.

Q: 3. Can this be attached to a Sirui P-324S monopod (or any monopod for that matter)? If so, are there additional accessories I need to purchase?

A: The Sachtler 0405 FSB-6T Fluid Head is strictly for tripod or dolly use for two reasons. 1.This fluid head has a ball base and the Sirui P-324S has a flat head so you cannot attach them together. 2.Also this fluid head is much too big and heavy for monopod use.As is, the Sirui P-324S works as a small, elegant video monopod with 360 panning and 20 tilting built in. If you need, you can add a small video head like the MVH500AH Fluid Video Head.

Q: 4. Does this head really weigh 2.2 lbs?

A: I did not weigh the head, but the weight seems appropriate. It is an excellent head and works great to hold my Schwarovski spotting scope.

Q: 5. Can i fit this head on a manfroto 3001pro? the center post doesn't seem to have a compatible top

A: I don't know anything about 3001 pro. However, any tripod with a 3/8 Thread should be able to mount this head.

Q: 6. does this not come with a quick release plate if no what kind of quick release plate can this use??

A: The 128LP does not have a quick release system, it has a screw that you use to secure the camera directly on to the head. However you could add a quick release system to the top of this unit, such as the Manfrotto 394 Low Profile Quick Release Adapter or Oben QRA-R2.

Q: 7. What else do I need to buy to place this item on a monopod? The monopod currently does not have any head attached to it? Am confused about clamps, plates?

A: The plate is the piece you attach to the camera. You place the plate into the jaws of the clamp on top of this head. You attach the head to the monopod and you are in business. You need a plate. This s OEM but back ordered: Desmond DS-1 Bi-Directional Arca-Type QR Plate B&H # DEDS1. Here is one that is in stock that will fit. Oben QR-10 Quick Release Plate B&H # OBQR10

Q: 8. Why is this ball head not recommended for use on a monopod?

A: Typically ball heads offer too much motion when unlocked, which can be hard to handle when using a monopod. With only two hands to grip onto the camera or lens; monopod itself; or the head/tension release knob, using a ballhead could make it difficult to secure the lens in the correct position/orientation. Alternatively, using a monopod head limits the motion to a single axis via the primary tension knob, making it easier to adjust for tilt while not giving you any hassle with pan or roll.

Q: 9. What is different about this from the Manfrotto Nitrotech N8?

A: The load capacity and many other features are the same as the N8. However this model offers upgraded fluid technology which enables smooth and judder-free pan and tilt movements thanks to a continuously variable drag performance.

Q: 10. Is there an extension cable available for using it on a camera jib?

A: I just cut the cable and fitted a long peace in the middle. A good unit that works well.Andrew Nivison
