The Bosch Rack-mounted Ethernet Fiber-optic Media Converter transmits and receives 10/100 Mbps Ethernet data over fiber optic cables using small form-factor pluggable (SFP) modules. It is a head-end device, and comes in an enclosure that allows surface mounting or rack mounting using the optional C1-IN rack mount card cage. The unit offers automatic MDI/MDI-X crossover, and does not need any in-field adjustments.

A: The Blackmagic Design ATEM Camera Converter is only supported by Black Magic Studio camera models. Both the Black Magic Television studio 4k and 6k camera models are supported.

A: You can if you don't need the extra features like tally or Talkback. The audio at the receiving end would be embedded in the SDI as there is no analog audio out. This may not be the best choice for doing just that depending upon your video and audio needs.

A: Many DIFFERENT cameras..., But only 1 at a time.

A: Yes, we do it both ways regularly

Q: 6. How are people mounting these for on location use? Needing to use it at a camera operator station with a tripod setup.

A: The Blackmagic Design ATEM Camera Converter is meant to sit in a rack shelf and has no mounting points. I suggest in a portable solution, using a projector stand.

Q: 7. Can I use the ATEM Camera Converter as talkback even without a video input? We're planning to acquire the Talkback Converter 4K which has 8 i/o and connect 3-4 non-BMD cameras to it. We're curious if we can use the camera converter's talkback capability as communication devices with our audio guy and other crew.

A: If you are not going to feed PGM back to the cameras, you should simply feed one of the camera outputs on the Talkback Converter to the PGM In and use the loop to your switcher. That way there is a signal feeding back to all cameras that will carry talkback.

Q: 8. I need to know which cable I can use the Lc/Lc single or Duplex and what is the different between both ?

A: The adapter on the box is LC, but you don't have to use an LC to LC fiber. I use LC to ST dual Single Mode fiber. You'll want to make sure you're using dual single mode so you can send and receive a signal.

Q: 9. I am looking for a talk back device in the control room, i have an BM ATEM 1 ME, I have BM Studio Cameras connected to the ATEM 1 ME, I would like to communicate with the camera operators but don't have the talk back XLR's on my ATEM switch. I was hopping this device would give me the ability to talk from the control room to the other BMSC operators?

A: The ATEM 1Me will not give you any option for talk back.If your connecting the BMD Studio converter to a Black Magic camera converter with LC Duplex fiber (single mode) you can plug your head set into the BMD Studio Converter (located back at the production space) and talk to as many cameras that you connect to with fiber.
