Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. What is the thickness of the mount base? Is it compatible with a 1/4 - 20 Thread mount head?

A: Yes this is compatible with 1/4-20 thread

Q: 2. Will this tripod work with Canon rebel t2ii?

A: You shouldn't have any problems with this combination.

Q: 3. Can this head pan horizontally without any vertical movement?

A: No, the ball head cannot be locked vertically in order for it to pan horizontally.

Q: 4. Can I use an extension arm with this for flat lay photography?

A: Certainly, just unscrew the head and attach a lateral arm to the legs and then reattach the head to the end of the lateral arm. Click the link below to view your options; https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/buy/Arms/ci/10829/N/4075788750

Q: 5. can a slider be mounted on this?

A: I actually just recently used this tripod in a film. I was using a pretty stripped down Black Magic URSA Mini 4.6k. I mounted a three foot slider on the tripod but found that the camera was a bit too heavy, and as the camera moved away from the center of the slider, the tripod head began to have trouble supporting the full load. So I used two C-Stands on either side to support the ends of the slider. However, if you're using a DSLR or another light weight camera, I don't think you'd run into that problem. It's a really sturdy tripod, but the head is just not made for extremely heavy loads.

Q: 6. A few questions. This tripod is a few inches too long for my suitcase. Can I remove the head for packing? If so, how long is it then? One reviewer commented that the round adapter slips in the head. What do people think of the reliability of this mount? Thanks.

A: Yes the head can be removed. Raise the center column up a few inches (so you can get a good grip on it), and lock down the pan lock knob. Then, holding the center column, unscrew the head counter clockwise.

Q: 7. Hi! Will there be flexing/bending if the tripod is at the lowest height (max angle setting) and the legs fully extended?

A: As long as you are within the weight capacity (19lbs) no, it will not give any flex/bending when at the lowest height with the legs fully extended.

Q: 8. does it support 7D Mark II? where is it made in? Thanks!

A: This lists a Country of Origin of Hong Kong and it has a 19.8 pound load capacity. It will be able to support a 7D Mark II very well.

Q: 9. How can I attach my Oben ball head to the tripod?

A: A technician at Oben did not recommend using the ball head on this tripod. Apparently the male end of the screw is only 3/16 inch. The technician believes it is fine for attaching an SLR but would be unwieldy for the base of the tripod.

Q: 10. Everyone says this is heavy, but when I look at the specks it says 7.1lbs. Which is basically the same as the really right stuff carbon fiber tripod (5lbs) and head (2 lbs) that costs $1,600. Is it really heavier??

A: I like it, even though it is about 7 lbs. I'm over 70, have been using this for about 8 years professionally and like the sturdiness and ability to adjust legs to any position to get the right shot/angle. I shoot real estate.
