Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. can i scan 120 film?

A: Not with this scanner, which is a dedicated 35 mm scanner. To the best of my knowledge, for medium format negatives your best bet is a dual purpose flat bed scanner that comes with the appropriate masks to hold negatives in the size you want to scan. Dedicated film scanners for medium format negatives may be available, but are likely to be very expensive.

Q: 2. Which batterie is used in lens cap remote for lomo mini instant camera

A: The battery in the lens cap is a CR1632.

Q: 3. How well can this scan 8mm or 16mm movie frames?

A: Sorry, I haven't either tried any of these formats.

Q: 4. Lens compatibility?Any idea if Lomography designed this to specifically work with their lenses, or if it's possible to use a f-mount or k-mount lens perhaps?

A: This is designed to work with Konstruktor lenses.

Q: 5. Does the kit actually let you take pictures?

A: Yes!

Q: 6. Can you scan at 1200 dpi or 2400 dpi?

A: The Plustec 8200i can scan at 1200 and 2400 dpi.

Q: 7. will this scanner and software work with windows 10?

A: I just got one and have yet to be able to get my computer, an HP running Windows 10, to recognize the computer is installed even thought the software for the scanner is installed. I may be sending this back.

Q: 8. I want to buy one but don't know which model to get on so, what's the difference between the 8100, 8200i SE and the 8200i Ai? Just software bundles they come with?

A: The software is only bad in that it is complex. There are automatic settings that work well. Overall after doing over 100 scans I like the software and the scanner. The 8200 models come with the infrared scratch and dust detection and it works well and saves a lot of time with a healing brush. I like that the software will allow you to get a high res high density scan. The software is not plug and play but is powerful. I think the bundle with the full version of the software was well worth the price but the learning curve was big but pays off in the end. Silverfast has videos that explain the process and every tool. I have had several slide scanners and this is fast on low res scans but if you want to get the best of your old negatives you will do higher res scans and they take 20-30 sec. If you want low res copies of your slides and negatives then either look to the lower end models or send the stuff to a vendor that will do it for you. The lower end stuff is just as slow. If you don't care about resolution of the final jpg or tif and you will only look at them on your computer screen or small frames, send them out and forget the dyi of slide scanning. It's very time consuming but for decent res, it's worth it.

Q: 9. How many steps does this take to make it? I am wondering if I can turn it into an “advent calendar” for my son to build?

A: Please take a look at this link as it lists the instructions and all of the steps required to build the Lomography Konstruktor F Do-It-Yourself 35mm Film SLR Camera Kit. https://microsites.lomography.com/konstruktor/how-to-build/

Q: 10. Does this OpticFilm model 8200i SE really come with the SilverFast SE Plus 8 Software? I've heard reports that it actually does NOT ship with some of the OpticFilm models. I'm very seriously thinking of ordering this unit. Thanks!

A: The OpticFilm 8200i SE Film Scanner includes SilverFast SE Plus 8 with it.
