Q: 1. I am trying to use the canon 10-18mm lens with hello canon to MFT adaptor on my DMC G85; the lens seems to only be able to focus at the widest setting (10mm); when zoomed out the image is blurry and manual focus doesn't seem to do anything. is this the the way it is with only the one focal length available or is there something else i can do? camera is set in manual focus, the lens is set to manual focus and i'm in aperture mode. any help - and thanks.

A: Here's an answer from dpreview's forums which I believe is correct: I have the 10-18 and tried this. To my dismay it turned out that the manual zoom on the 10-18 is electrically invoked when you turn the focus ring. There's no pure mechanical focusing mechanism on that lens. In other words the lens needs electrical power even to manually focus and your adapter dose not provide this power pass-through from the G85.

Q: 2. how good is wifi connection on G85, picture sharing with iPhone specifically? I'm seeing bad ratings on appstore of Panasonic Image App

A: Its just a matter of linking the camera with the smart device and than its good

Q: 3. what is considered the native ISO of this camera? (for video)

Q: 4. Is it PAL or NTSC?

A: This an NTSC model camera.

Q: 5. Is this camera durable?

A: It is very durable. I've used it in rain, cold, heat - you name it. The weather sealing on the camera is excellent.

Q: 6. How does this compare to the a6500?

A: Both cameras are excellent image and video makers, having very good balanced spec s for both video and photo. The major differences are as follows: A6500 is a bigger camera, A6500 has a mic input, A6500 does 120 fps in 1080p, finally the a 6500 is a fast focusing camera. Some major differences between Sony mirrorless vs Panasonic are the sensor size; Sony has a APSC senor which is larger than Panasonics micro four thirds. Also Panasonic has a much larger lenses line up than Sony. Lastly with Panasonic you can pull a photo from the video with their 4K photo mode.

Q: 7. What is the crop factor when recording 4k video? I am curious which metabones adapter would be best for this camera either the .71 or the .64.

A: roughly 2.2x crop factor in 4k video

Q: 8. Gps ?

A: The G85 does not have a GPS.

Q: 9. can you use external recorder

A: While I have not yet tried it, I think you should be able to record on an external device. The owners manual (on Page 281) shows that you can record while viewing the camera image on an external monitor while using the HDMI cable output from the camera. If it can send the signal to the monitor, it should be able to send the image to a recorder...

Q: 10. What is the resource of a mechanical shutter Panasonic Lumix DMC-G85 ?

A: This camera can be set to Mechanical Shutter Mode. This option can be found in the Menu under [Rec] - [Shutter Type]. With Mechanical Shutter you get a maximum Shutter Speed of 1/4000th of a Second and a sync speed of 1/160 of a Second.
