Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Hello! S-Cinetone and/or S-Log3 profiles, are they applicable when I shooting RAW? Thanks!!!

A: Yes, Sony's Picture Profiles will apply to RAW files on the Sony a7 IV Mirrorless Camera.

Q: 2. Will the screen become blank when I record 4k 30fps with hdmi out to a monitor or a switcher like Atem mini extreme iso?

A: Yes.

Q: 3. On Sony's website it lists the bitrate in XAVC HS 4K as follows: 60p (200 Mbps / 100 Mbps) 24p (100 Mbps / 50 Mbps). Why are there 2 numbers for each frame rate? What is the real bitrate for those frame rates? Thanks

A: When you're selecting a frame rate, you get to choose what options fit best for you. When you select XAVC HS 4K you have more than two options to select from. As an example if you're on 60p, you have the following options. 45mbps being the lowest and 200 being the highest. 45M 4:2:0 10bit 75M 4:2:0 10bit 100M 4:2:2 10bit 150M 4:2:2 10bit 200M 4:2:2 10bit

Q: 4. 4K at 60fp

A: The Sony a7 IV Mirrorless Camera can record 4K 60p video with an APS-C crop size.

Q: 5. I have the Fuji GFX camers with lots of Megapixels. Want a 2nd lighter camera for wildlife and bird. Cannot decide between the A7 IV and the A9 ii. What are the main differences besides megapixels and FPS?

A: The a9ii has a stacked sensor that allows the sensor to be scanned very quickly. So it has less rolling shutter in video and you can also use it in silent electronic shutter and not get distortions. Unfortunately the a7iv does not have the stacked sensor, so you get more rolling shutter distortions and in silent mode you can get banding. Better to only use the a7iv in regular mechanical shutter.

Q: 6. Hello! When I shooting Video, using Active Video Stabilize. What exactly crop factor? Thanks!!!

A: The active video stabilize mode in the Sony a7 IV Mirrorless Camera is about a 1.1x crop.

Q: 7. does this camera allow for exposure bracketing?

A: Hi Roger, Sony's commitment to customer satisfaction is our top priority. Yes, this camera does allow for Exposure Bracketing. Thank you for choosing Sony. -Linda Sony Social Support

Q: 8. Does this camera has night vision ?

A: The Sony a7 IV Mirrorless Camera does not have a night vision mode, but it is good in low light.

Q: 9. If you use an external monitor do you lose the ability to have face detention?

A: No, we have tested and verified that the A7IV maintains face and eye-detection in AF when outputting via HDMI to an external monitor, capture card, or external recorder.

Q: 10. When the camera is off, I can hear a clunking sound when I rotate the camera. Is this normal?

A: What you hear is the in body stabilization system which is normal?
