Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is it possible to quickly switch between clip playback and HDMI Passthrough? I have an ATEM Mino Pro which has 4 inputs, I have a 4 camera shoot, I'd like to be able to run one camera into the HDMI input of the hyperdeck, and then run the hyperdeck into the ATEM. I'd then like to just output the HDMI signal, but then when I need to play a clip either trigger it from the device or ATEM software control and have it switch. Then switch the HDMI output back to the input feed.

A: When in record mode the camera signal will be shown. And simply pressing Play on the Hyperdeck Shuttle will start playing clips.

Q: 2. Does it send clean 1080p 422 HD signal thru the hdmi port for use in external recorder like atomos ninja 2 or assassin?

A: Yes, the camera does have an uncompressed output for external recording.

Q: 3. Can you edit the video with Final Cut Pro x

A: Yes

Q: 4. What zoom controllers, if any, will work with the Xf100?

A: LANC controllers can be used. Example of one is the Libec ZC-LP seen here. https://bhpho.to/2L0rceS Further examples can be seen within the zoom & focus section under the accessories tab within the camera's product web page.

Q: 5. Can you recommend a mic I can use for general outdoor (nature) video shoots. Most of my video recording is done outdoors using natural sound? So far the built in mic has been adequate, but wondering if there's a better alternative. Thanks.

A: Hi Carl,I highly recommend the Audio-Technica AT-8022 for the reasons you mentioned. That is the mic that B&H recommended to me. Night and day difference from the built-in mic. I am a professional musician and use that exact camera-mic setup to record my live performances. People have told me that it feels like you are actually there. It is a stereo mic with a nice X-Y pattern to capture enough ambient noise. It has a more focused sound field the closer it is placed to the subject and gets wider as distance increases. All the necessary accessories are included for camera mounting. Well worth the money. If you would like to hear what the mic sounds like, please visit my YouTube channel: Kevin Baricar. Hope this helps your decision.-Kevin

Q: 6. Can the search dial be used for editing in DaVinci resolve similar to the editor keyboards?

A: At this time the Blackmagic Design HyperDeck Shuttle HD does not double as a DaVinci Resolve controller.

Q: 7. Can you use the magnify button on the camera to fine-tune focus during recording?

A: The Magnify Focus Assist Function is available while recording with the XF100. This will allow you to make sure you have your subjects in focus.

Q: 8. Is this camera compatible with a wireless remote to turn it on/off if it’s mounted high and unreachable?

A: No, the Canon XF100 Digital Camcorder cannot be operated by a wireless remote when out of operating distance.

Q: 9. Does this include the handgrip accessory with the xlr and 3.5mm inputs?

A: Yes, the top handle grip is included with this camera. If you do not want the XLR inputs then I would opt for the consumer equivalent to this camera, which is B&H # CAHFG30.

Q: 10. I already own a Shure SM57 and SM58. Can I use either of these mikes with the XF100?

A: The XF100 includes an XLR and a 1/8 mini plug input for audio. It has a very professional audio setup and it's very versatile. As long as you use one of those connectors (which are the standard), you should have no problem plugging in.
