A: The plate is the piece you attach to the camera. You place the plate into the jaws of the clamp on top of this head. You attach the head to the monopod and you are in business. You need a plate. A: With this tripod you have 90 degrees up and 90 degrees down tilt. Plus you have 360 degrees of pan.

A: No, the PROVISTA18 is not available with the V18 head.

Q: 4. Can the rubber feet be replaced with spikes for outdoor work?

A: Not really - they are firmly glued on. When one of ours got broken, I had to replace the whole section. I don't know if you could find spikes that would go over the foot?

Q: 5. Will an Arca Swiss type plate attach to the top of this? I specifically chose this mode because it doesn't have the proprietary Manfrotto QR plates.

A: Yes. I bought a Hejnar 3.25 Arca type plate. It fits perfectly on top. I had to go to a hardware store to pick up nuts and bolts to secure it down. The thumb nut that comes with the Manfrotto will thread in, but will not prevent twisting since it mates with one thread. You need at least two nuts&bolts to prevent the Arca clamp from twisting on the head.

A: I use it with my Black Magic Camera and I've used it for other heavier cameras as well.

A: No, it is not compatible.

Q: 8. I want put a slider onto the tripod and it requires me taking off the fluid head to put on the slider, How do I remove the fluid head?

A: How does your slider attach? The FM18 head has a 1/4 20 and a 3/8 16 thread on its own quick release plate.If you need to remove the head you must unscrew the rubber handle which hangs between the legs. Once this is remove the head can be removed with the ball claw attached to it. There will be some allen screws on the bottom of the ball claw... you can also remove these if necessary.

A: Yes, the bottom of the Manfrotto 608 Nitrotech Fluid Video Head has a standard female 3/8" thread. And the K&F legs the head comes off and that has a 3/8 inch male thread.
