Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. I have a DGX640 with stand but the keyboard is malfunctioning. Can I use that stand on the DGX 670?

A: Dimensions of the two keyboards are slightly different with the DGX0670 being a bit larger. The dimensions for width x depth x height for the DGX-640 are 55" x 17.5" x 5.75" (1,397 x 445 x 146 mm) while the DGX-670 measures 55.1 x 17.5 x 5.9" (1,400 x 445 x 151 mm). Dimensions of the two different stands has not been provided to be able to compare them accurately and confirm whether or not the stand for the DGX-640 works with the DGX-670 keyboard. You can try reaching out to Yamaha for more information. The phone number for their main office is 714-522-9011.

Q: 2. Does it come with the stand?

A: Stand not included, it can be ordered separately: Yamaha L-300 Matching Stand for DGX-670 Digital Piano (Black).

Q: 3. How would you turn off the internal speakers on this numa compact2 piano and run audio only on the output to monitor via studio monitors?

A: The internal speakers can be disabled via the global menu on the Numa Compact 2X.

Q: 4. Does it include the wooden feet as shown in the pics? Thanks in advance

A: No, the wooden legs are not included. This is a brand new item which has not yet been shipped to dealers. At this time Arturia only lists that availability and pricing are to be determined for the wooden legs. More information should be available after the keyboard is in stock so please do check back with us.

Q: 7. Is the device plug and play or requires me to download drivers upon first use of the controller?

Q: 8. What are the dimensions?

A: Hi archie, The dimensions are as follows: External size 53,5” x 12,6” x 7” Internal size 52,7” x 14,2” x 8” Outer pocket size 25,6” x 6” x 1”

Q: 9. The description says the item is non-cancelable, and non-returnable. I am thinking seriously of buying one, but am confused about how a non-returnable item has a limited 1yr warranty. Is this not a contradiction, somehow?

A: Most electronics nowadays carry a limited 1 year warranty. The non-cancelable, non-returnable restriction is because the StudioLogic SL88 Studio is not a regularly stocked product, and because it would be ordered for a specific customer, and not the general public, it can not be returned.

Q: 10. Does this have waterfall keys?

A: No, the keys on the Arturia KeyLab 88 MkII Hammer-Action MIDI Controller have a very small lip at the end. They are not waterfall style keys with a totally flat edge.

Ordered an Aruria Keylab 88mkii.
Process was straightforward, easy to navigate, and I recieved my keyboard quickly and safely.

I would recommend and also buy from here again without question.

I haven't needed support but I'm thinking based off of my experience so far I would not be dossapointed.

This is an amazing keyboard with heavy keys. My only complain is with the SL Editor, that could automatically identify the keyboard (currently you have to configure the MIDI section all the times).

I bought this to replace a Studiologic SL-990, which started to have key contact problems after 15 years of use and abuse (contacts wearing out and a huge amount of accumulated dirt and grime in the switch contact areas). So that product amounted to about $50/year cost over the lifetime of the product. The new SL88 Grand has an amazingly authentic piano-touch feel. It also is very flexible in all the configuration parameters. No longer in audio/music production, I do not have need any more for all the different things it is capable of doing as a MIDI controller, so to those who may be contemplating purchasing it for more mundane purposes, I would still highly recommend it. For example, I use the keyboard to drive only the grand piano program on an Alesis Nanopiano (a late 1990's piano module with Bsendorfer samples), connecting that to powered satellite speakers and a powered bass/sub. The default velocity curve was fine, and I was easily able to disable the sticks from affecting anything (by default one caused pitch-bend and one of the non-return-to-center sticks adjusted the reverb amount). Keep in mind that today's electronics and programmable features are not expensive; you are paying the extra cost for the physical construction that affects the mechanical action. Note that the SL88 Studio is $400 less expensive than the SL88 Grand for that reason, though it has the same electronics and associated features.

A couple of months ago I bought my first ever keyboard (Yamaha PSR Series 61 key). Never wanted a keyboard before as I cant read sheet music and am not a musician or artist. A couple weeks with my beginner keyboard (using Acid Pro) and soon realized you really do need the full 88 keys. Shopped around a lot before getting the SL88.
The SL88 feels more like the actual Pianos at church (while I am confident our church will continue to use ACTUAL instruments, i.e. Pianos, Organs, etc.. for the remainder of time).
The keyboard feels and plays very nicely after getting used to it.
As a noobie to MIDI controllers I will say the included software is somewhat straight forward, but did have to watch a video on how to get it so sync with the keyboard (so easy really).
Love that it is fully configurable. The gifted synths are very cool if you get them.
Only thing is I would like to have had simple transport controls, as well as a simple button to allow turning off touch sensitivity for certain synths. For this you have to make a profile and switch to it, my old Yamaha just has a button right there to turn touch sensitivity on and off.
Overall love this controller and will be keeping it!

I have to say that it is exactly what I hoped it would be. The feel is excellent, configuration is a breeze, and the computer plate option fits my MBP 15 perfectly. I don't have any sticky keys or any other imperfections that I can identify. I added the SLP3-D Triple Pedal and like the SL88, it is also built like a tank. I was thrilled that Synthogy Ivory II American Concert D was included and it sounds fantastic. If I had to nag on one thing I would wish for a way to dim the LCD. It is very bright and can be a bit distracting at times. Again, no real complaints...

There aren't many weighted boards with less than 88 keys, but the SL73 is even compact enough to fit in most 61 key cases.

The action is heavy, but expressive and the 3 joysticks are more useful than they seem - as they can be programmed to change many different midi parameters eg. I use joystick 3 to mix three layered instruments, with piano, strings (vertical axis), and pad (horizontal axis). Very handy.

Powering via the USB also keeps the setup very clean. Highly recommended.

We needed a controller for a classical pianist who switches between an acoustic piano and controller for sessions. The response and feel of the action are well worth the money. The interface is easy to navigate and is generally plug and play with any DAW. Highly recommended.

I replaced my Casio PX-160 digital piano for this StudioLogic SL88 Studio MIDI keyboard controller.
I really like the Casio PX-160 key action, however, this StudioLogic key bed with its touch action is a fine replacement to keep my fingers physically fit.
This keyboard in conjunction with the lighter action Novation Launchkey 88 Mk3 MIDI keyboard makes a fine pair for alternating between touch and light action.
This StudioLogic key bed is Fatar TP/100LR, a highly regarded and affordable key bed.
Also this keyboard controller is Made in Italy.
I am quite content with this purchase.

I love the feel of the keys. Just like what I remember from my piano (still on the mainland, built in 1900, we have no room for it here).

I've only just started exploring its use with my Linux-based software, so I can only state that having the full 88 keys back is WONDERFUL after decades of only 61 keys. A big part of the joy of piano is it covers the entire scale.

Aftertouch works.

I haven't done anything with the three joystick controls.

When I first set it up, I didn't have a USB-A to USB-B cable, so I tried using my MIDI interface, but wasn't able to make that work. I have a history of being flummoxed by old-style MIDI cables, so I may simply have connected it up wrong.

Then I found an appropriate USB cable, plugged it in, and things just worked.

I like the keyboard. I like the fact that it's not loaded up with arranger software, instruments in ROM, or tied to proprietary Windows/MacOS-only applications.

I look forward to playing it a lot!

Studiologic did an excellent job designing this keyboard. The action emulates the touch of a high-end weighted action keybed, with great piano feel. The SL Editor software works great and gives you a lot of flexibility for creating patches which leverage all of the keyboards parameters such as key splits, up to four pedal assignments, Midi CC, program change, etc. It has great features for live performance such as 3 joysticks and an LCD screen to make navigation easy in low light environments. It is light weight and easy to take to a gig. The only small negative about it is that I wish SL would have put two or three midi-configurable control/push button knobs in the area where the joy sticks are located.
