A: The V600 is compatible with OS 10.8.5 and 10.9 Mavericks.It comes with Epson's proprietary Easy Photo Fix technology, which allows you to make color corrections, dust removal, contrast, etc. Silverfast improves the scanning by increasing the d-max through a multi-pass feature. It also has customized scanning capability to target different film types, i.e. velvia, ektachrome, provia, etc.along with improving scratch removal, descreening, and unsharp mask.

Q: 6. How many slides can it do simultaneously, and what file formats are in the output. (TIF, JPG, BMP?)

A: You can do 4 slides at a time. You should use the preview to make sure the perspective is correct. The scanner software will let you adjust many settings and then save it. I have one called color slides . There are jpg, PDF, bmp, etc. outputs. I find that a jpeg that I can open in PS and tweak is the best solution. I'm very happy with the scanner and have also used it for negative film. Good Luck!

A: The average time frame to scan an 8x10 print at 300 dpi on the Epson V600 is approxemelty, 30 seconds. But, there are other settings that can make the scan speed longer. There is on information on 200dpi but it should take about 12-18 seconds.

A: In a word: yes. 1. Open the Epson Scan software that comes with the machine. 2. Load your original in the scanner. 3. Click PREVIEW. 4. In the window that displays the preview use your mouse to select the area you want to scan. The process is similar to that for cropping in Photoshop. 5. Click scan and select image type, place to store scan etc. 6. Click OK to start scan.
