Q: 1. I have a Lumix g7 and amm considering this lens or the panasonic lens of the same focal length. what would be the pros or cons of one lens over the other? They seem very similar.

A: While I have not personally used the recently-announced Olympus M.Zuiko Digital ED 100-400mm f/5-6.3 IS Lens, from reviews posted online, while both lenses are good options, the Panasonic lens would be more compact in size and offers better stabilization when shooting with a Panasonic camera that is compatible with their Dual IS feature. It is also nice that the zoom ring can be locked at any chosen position (the Olympus lens can only be locked at the 100mm setting). The Olympus lens offers better sharpness at the lens' maximum aperture, has better optical stabilization when using the lens on an Olympus body (the Olympus lens has better in-lens stabilization, but is incompatible with Olympus' in-body stabilization; the Panasonic lens' built-in stabilization is inferior, but offers better performance when paired with a Panasonic camera with in-body Dual IS stabilization capability). The Olympus lens would also be compatible with Olympus' 1.4x and 2x teleconveters (there are no teleconverters designed for the Panasonic lens). The zoom ring is much smoother to operate on the Olympus lens compared to the stiffer zoom ring on the Panasonic lens. All that being said, both lenses have good performance, so it would come down to personal preference.

Q: 2. has anyone used this on a Epl5? I know Olympus says its compatible. Just wonder personal results.

A: The Olympus M.Zuiko Digital ED 100-400mm f/5-6.3 IS Lens is compatible with the EPL5 but due to the small size of the EPL5 body, it is awkward to use a long lens.

Q: 3. What is the ETA on this product??

A: We don't have a specific date from Olympus yet, when we do, it will be posted on our website.

Q: 4. Can you remove the tripod collar?

A: The tripod collar on the M. Zuiko ED 100-400mm f/5-6.3 IS is removable.

Q: 5. Could I use a Ballhead with Quick Release on it ?

A: Yes, you can use the lik SBH-100 DQ Compact Ballhead 100 with Quick Release on it.

Q: 6. Will this lens work with the oly 2.0 teleconverter?

A: Yes, the Olympus F5-6.3 100-400 mm is compatible with the Olympus 2x converter https://bhpho.to/38qLnzq

Q: 7. Does this 100-400mm lens come with a lens hood?

A: Yes, the Olympus LH-76D Lens Hood, B&H # OLLH76D, is included with the purchase of the Olympus M.Zuiko Digital ED 100-400mm f/5-6.3 IS Lens.

Q: 8. Will the Depth From Defocus on a Lumix g9 work with this lens?

A: Yes, the defocus option on Panasonic Lumix DC-G9 Mirrorless Micro Four Thirds Digital Camera will be available when using Olympus M.Zuiko Digital ED 100-400mm f/5-6.3 IS Lens.

Q: 9. When used with a Panasonic camera such as G9 or GH5, what stabilization mode will work? Can I turn off the lens stabilization and just use the camera's IBIS?

A: When pairing the Olympus M.Zuiko Digital ED 100-400mm f/5-6.3 IS Lens together with the Panasonic Lumix G9 Mirrorless Camera or the Panasonic Lumix GH5 Mirrorless Camera, you would have to use either the lens' built-in image stabilization or the camera body's built-in image stabilization, but you cannot use both at the same time. Dual I.S. stabilization using both the camera's in-body image stabilization and the lenses built-in stabilization is only compatible when using Panasonic-branded lenses on Panasonic cameras. As such, yes, you may turn off the lens' stabilization and just use the camera's in-body image stabilization feature. For more information, you may view pages 145-148 of the Panasonic Lumix G9 Mirrorless Camera's Owner's Manual for Advanced Features, or pages 143-146 of the Panasonic Lumix GH5 Mirrorless Camera's Owner's Manual for Advanced Features.

Q: 10. Can you use both ibis in the Olympus one 1 3 and the is in the Olympus 100-400 at the same time?

A: Yes, both stabilizations systems will work in conjunction with one another.
