It doesnt continuously focus on the eye. when eye detect is on it focuses on the eye when you half press the shutter button, but if your subject moves you will have to re-half press the shutter to have it refocus on the eye. It seems like everything else on the camera, it is there and works pretty good but is just signal that Canon has a lot in store for the future. So for portraits it will work awesome, for sports...maybe wait a generation.By the way I have and love this camera so I am not just dissing Canon.
