The Audio Express from MOTU is a compact, yet fully featured digital audio interface that connects to any current Mac or PC via FireWire or high-speed USB 2.0. The interface is compatible with virtually all DAWs on the market today, but can also function as a standalone mixer, both in the studio and for live events.

The unit provides a lot of connectivity for a compact unit. Connect a microphone, guitar, keyboard, and digital input, and the interface is ready to make pro-quality recordings. A: Two 8tb WD defintely work. I did see a few vendors, by google, selling a 20tb version but with seagate hard drives so i assume WD wouldnt be any different but cannot verify. Manual doesn't mention max per bay capacity either.

Q: 5. In JBOD mode, are the drives hot-swappable? Can I eject one drive without ejecting or disturbing the others?

A: Yes in JBOD mode you can eject and replace a drive without disturbing the other drives.

A: You can not. The RAID configuration settings are done by dip-switches on the back, and is not per-drive (it's either all JBOD or all RAID5).

A: From the manufacturer website, there is no mention of a limit on the site, nor in the manual. They sell a 40TB version which would use 8TB drives, and a 30TB version which would use 6TB drives. So, it would make sense that WD Red 6TB drives would be find. I have submitted the question to the manufacturer.

I know that it's usb 3.0 port has a maximum transfer speed of 525MB/s, but that's the port, so I was wondering if the hardware itself had transfer speed limitations (for example some external hard drives with 3.0 have transfer speeds up to 400MB/s due to its hardware).
