Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. is it possible to control this with a ptz joystick controller?

A: No, the CamRanger PT Hub and MP-360 Pan/Tilt Head cannot be controlled by a PTZ joystick controller as they do not support the control protocols for the unit.

Q: 2. Is this setup compatible with a Lumix DMC FZ2599?

A: No, it is not compatible with the FZ2500.

Q: 3. For timelapse, can the head be programmed to stop-take a photo, move, stop-take a photo move, or does this have to be done manually? I understand about the app and wifi controller but cannot find anything saying it can be programmed to automatically move in increments....

A: Specific to your question yes. If possible download the Camranger user user manual. On page 34 the Shoot Move Shoot explains exactly how this is done and it is automated. In addition to using it for time lapse you can also set it up for HDR and bracket multiple shot at each sequencial stop. You can pan and tilt. You set the number of shots and control the time. Another option is just setting up a very slow pan and or tilt. In this fashion you do not have to calculate the steps but instead set it up to move at the speed you choose. There is another function you may be interested in called Stack shot. It is used for macro and moves the camera forward or back focusing at each step. It requires another accessory which is a shot set of rails with a mortorize head. I do not own. Overall the Cam Ranger with Hub are a great tool and I would recommend. Be sure your camera is supposed before purchasing.

Q: 4. The description about wireless is confusing. Do they mean we can wireless control the motors of the head? Or is it a totally unrelated wireless product which the same company is advertising (merely to display the camera's picture remotely)? My camera has built-in Wi-Fi and I use the free Canon app to remotely view images and manage the camera. All I really need to know is if this product can handle remote control of the head's motor. And if so, is it included in this package, or is the wireless module still needed separately?

A: Hopefully this can clear things up a bit. I have a Canon 70D with built-in Wi-Fi, and tried to use that initially for taking pictures remotely. The Wi-Fi connection from the camera to the Canon app on my phone (or iPad) was very spotty and unreliable, sluggish and lacked one important feature triggering video capture. The PT Hub works well, but only works at least remotely with the CamRanger Wi-Fi unit (up to 300 feet). It does come with a shorter, wired, direct plug-in remote (about 3 feet?), that can direct the PT hub up/down/left/right controller for smooth panning WITHOUT the camRanger Wi-Fi unit. The CamRanger app on phone or tablet then has controls for panning/tilting, focus adjustment, adjusting aperture, shutter speed, ISO, focus preview + lots more. The big selling point for me was the consistency of the CamRanger network , remote focus preview, and capture speed. I found I was missing many shots using the Canon app because of lag time. Plus, you can initiate video capture, start and stop using the camRanger, and use a CR share app which allows others to see what you are shooting on their phone/tablet (only those you choose or allow to). Hope this helps! Doug

Q: 5. Do you have the AC adapter for the CamRanger MP-360?

A: I agree 100% with Ric A answer.

Q: 6. Is it possible to control with this head the blackmagic micro studio camera? Is it compatible?

A: I can't see any possible reason why it couldn't be used, It has a 1/4 20 mounting thread.

Q: 7. OK Android app is available, but will it work without the separately sold $299 CamRanger thing mentioned below under Three things needed with my CamRanger MP-360 Motorized Pan/Tilt Tripod Head.. It sounds a bit confusing and potentially WAY too expensive since my new Sony 4K CAM will have built in Wi-Fi, however being able to control my old CamRanger MP-360 Motorized Pan/Tilt Tripod Head sounds awesome?.. :)

A: It does need if you want it to work on your Android device a Camranger.

Q: 8. Does this wireless remote system work with any camcorders also, or just with still cameras as pictured?

A: The unit is a platform, like a tripod. It pans and tilt. I use with my It my Panasonic GH3 with a 25 MM lens, no problem.

Q: 9. The overview says The MP-360 connects via the PT Hub to the CamRanger, which is sold separately and necessary for wireless operation .What do i need to buy for wireless operation?

A: For wireless operation of the MP-360 for your Nikon or Canon DSLR you will need 3 items - CamRanger 299.00 and the CamRanger PT Hub MP-360 kit 229.99) The CamRanger PT Hub kit also comes with a wired remote. The third item you will need is wifi tablet or phone to run the CamRanger App on. The App is free to download off iTunes or Google Play and you receive a license to run it included in the purchase of the camranger.

Q: 10. Does this work with Sony action cam?

A: Only to pan and tilt when used with camranger. No camera control for Sony cameras.

I can perfectly fit 6x 4ft Quasar Crossfade with custom brackets and electrical.
The case is sturdy, up to Pelican’s standards, and the wheels are much appreciated on location!

I built this case into a mobile streaming studio with the Atem Mini Pro, a laptop, AC voltage conditioner, in/out jacks on the back, a monitor and cooling fans. Perfect size for this purpose! Make sure you buy the iM Stays kit to keep the lid from flopping around! The wheels make it easy to transport. Very good construction, built to last years!

This case is built solid and strong. I bought this case for travel by airline and it is airline approved and is going to work great. I bought with the foam which comes in three layers, which makes it real easy to cut out for what ever you are going to carry or store in it. Thanks Pelican for a great product.
