Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this transmitter be compatible with the ELC Pro HD 1000 monolight right out of the box (i.e. No need for any firmware updates, etc...)?

A: I don't have an ELC Pro HD 1000. I suppose it should. I have Quadra, RX Style, and Digital RX Power Pack 2400 and it works with all of them (Nikon Version on D3X).

Q: 2. How can i incorporate my canon 600 exrt with this trigger?

A: The only possible wireless route is Pocket Wizard if you are having HS in mind - expensive route. Hhnel and some other similar pass-through hotshoe trigger/transceiver products can be used. Elinchrom has built EL Skyport Receivers HS recently, which will be triggered by this HS trigger. This also means that for each speedlite you will need such an Elinchrom receiver plus. This seems to be the better option because you will need only this HS trigger on top of your camera (comparing to other systems), which will trigger your speedlite which should be on top of the Receiver HS. However, I am not convinced that Elinchrom has mastered HS technology 100%. Though I love my Elinchrom strobes.

Q: 3. I have a Quadra Ranger 400W pack with Action heads, will the Hi-Sync mode work with my flashes or do I need to puchase the new HS heads?

A: II have used this with an action head on a RX2400. My configuration is mixed with an old AS 3-head triggered using a universal. I spent a little time tweaking ODS and could get reliable operation of the combined units at shutter speeds as short as 1/1000 sec. I was targeting 1/800 sec so I was happy with that result. On a single head type you might do better.Elinchrom says it will work up to 1/600sec using an action head but my experience shows you can get more by tweaking the timing. I'd try that first unless you really need a super fast shutter.

Q: 4. Is this (Ares II) compatible with the older Ares (not Ares II) receivers?

A: The Ares II and Ares are not compatible with each other.

Q: 5. Does the flash unit need an elinchron transceiver or will a pocket wizard plugged into flash unit sync with the skyport HS?

A: Hi,If you are using an Elinchrom Compact Strobe with a built in receiver you can use the new Skyport HS Plus unit. Older units with no receiver can use an Elinchrom universal receiver. Pocket Wizards are not able to work with the Skyport HS.I hope this helps.Regards,Will Mac Group Brand Manager Lighting

Q: 6. Is this compatable with eos r with a rotolight ii?

A: This transmitter is compatible with the Canon EOS R as per the manufacturer to trigger both Elinchrom lamp heads with a Skyport receiver or the Rotolight NEO 2.

Q: 7. Will this work on a panasonic gh5?

A: While the transmitter can fit on the Panasonic GH5, it uses a different TTL system than Olympus, so the transmitter would not be fully compatible.

Q: 8. Can you confirm that this will work with a Panasonic S1R?

A: The manufacturer said it is not on their list of fully compatible cameras.

Q: 9. Sony makes a wide range of cameras, which cameras are 100% compatible with this unit?

A: This transmitter is compatible with Sony cameras which have the Multi-Interface Shoe such as the Sony A7R II.

Q: 10. Can i shoot HSS with this and a Quadra ELB 400 with a HS Head? thanks!

A: Yes you can it supports HSS
