Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. How slow can this unit pan?

A: very very slow, it.s perfect!

Q: 2. what hardware do i need to attach this head to a camera (using the 1/4 -20 slot) ?

A: Its spec sheet says fits standard 1/2 20

Q: 3. Is it possible to connect the PT Hub directly to a computer via USB? I don't need wireless operation, but it will still be remote - just next to a computer.

A: According to Camranger's website, there is no indication that this unit can connected directly to a computer, it must be wireless with the downloaded app.

Q: 4. Is the CamRanger App available for Android?..

A: How the CamRanger PT Hub and MP-360 Pan/Tilt Head works,To control the head from the iPhone, iPad, Android, or Mac or Windows computer the hardware setup requires a CamRanger . The MP-360 is controlled through the CamRanger app. An additional tab within the app allows for control of the MP-360The MP-360 connects to the CamRanger, CamRanger PT Hub, and DSLR camera to allow wireless control of the camera and movement of the camera. The software comes in versions that work with iOS devices, Android devices, Mac and Windows computers, and the Kindle. The link for those is http://bit.ly/1HmAFaC

Q: 5. Does the CamRanger app have position profiles? So if I mount it permanently I can set two profiles I can tap and it will move there.

A: No, each time you must position the camera manually.

Q: 6. For timelapse, can the head be programmed to stop-take a photo, move, stop-take a photo move, or does this have to be done manually? I understand about the app and wifi controller but cannot find anything saying it can be programmed to automatically move in increments....

A: Specific to your question yes. If possible download the Camranger user user manual. On page 34 the Shoot Move Shoot explains exactly how this is done and it is automated. In addition to using it for time lapse you can also set it up for HDR and bracket multiple shot at each sequencial stop. You can pan and tilt. You set the number of shots and control the time. Another option is just setting up a very slow pan and or tilt. In this fashion you do not have to calculate the steps but instead set it up to move at the speed you choose. There is another function you may be interested in called Stack shot. It is used for macro and moves the camera forward or back focusing at each step. It requires another accessory which is a shot set of rails with a mortorize head. I do not own. Overall the Cam Ranger with Hub are a great tool and I would recommend. Be sure your camera is supposed before purchasing.

Q: 7. Is it possible to control with this head the blackmagic micro studio camera? Is it compatible?

A: I can't see any possible reason why it couldn't be used, It has a 1/4 20 mounting thread.

Q: 8. is it possible to control this with a ptz joystick controller?

A: No, the CamRanger PT Hub and MP-360 Pan/Tilt Head cannot be controlled by a PTZ joystick controller as they do not support the control protocols for the unit.

Q: 9. Is this setup compatible with a Lumix DMC FZ2599?

A: No, it is not compatible with the FZ2500.

Q: 10. Can it be set to both rotate and change the tilt angle simultaneously? For example, to make a timelapse that moves from left to right and tilts from max up downward such that the sequence is from upper left to lower right?

A: Yes. But 30 degrees of vertical movement is your limit.
