Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can you put it on a Ronin-S?

A: While we are not aware of any specific tests at this time, the camera is similar in size to a camera like the ZCam which has been successfully mounted and used with the Ronin-S. It should be possible.

Q: 2. I have to ask this stupid question. Is this camera really fit for professional use even though it has just a MFT sensor?

A: Yes, The Panasonic BGH1 is fit for professional work. Bigger is not always better. For example Broadcast cameras (such as those found in cameras used for sports, and news) use sensors that are even smaller than Micro Four Thirds. There are also plenty of full frame video cameras that are not designed for professional work. The BGH1 is ideal for professional work not only because it has a very high quality Micro Four Thirds sensor but it also features professional recording codecs (10-Bit 4:2:2 encoding), and lots of outputs for use in a variety of professional environments that require multiple cameras, remote monitoring, or remote control.

Q: 3. Is there support for Blackmagic RAW while using the Blackmagic video assist 12G?

A: Currently only the following is being supported by Black magic Raw Panasonic mov – – AVC-Intra 50M and 100 M: 720p (24/25/30/50/60), 1080i (50/60), 1080p (24/25/30/50/60), DVCPRO: NTSC, PAL, DVCPRO50: NTSC, PAL, DVCPRO: 720p (50/60), 1080i (50/60), 1080p (25/30) – SHV – – 8-bit, Studio only; 10-bit Studio only vrw – – Yes

Q: 4. Is there a record time limit with the BGH1?

A: There is not a recording limit on the BGH1, "4K recording is also supported with unlimited recording offered on all settings." https://pro-av.panasonic.net/en/cinema_camera_varicam_eva/products/bgh1/index.html#:~:text=LUMIX%20BGH1%20offers%20multiple%20recording,recording%20offered%20on%20all%20settings.

Q: 5. I want to build a stereoscopic rig with 2x BGH1. How should I genlock two cameras? Do I need an additional device or I can plug the SDI cable from one camera to another?

A: When using genlock with the Panasonic Lumix BGH1 Box Cinema Camera set genlock input to on. Use a short and well shielded BNC SDI cable.

Q: 6. Is it safe to charge the AG-VBR59P battery with the Panasonic DE-852D charger?

A: The DE-852D charger is only compatible with certain camcorders.

Q: 7. Would there be any base mount or functionality issues with Olympus MFT lenses?

A: NO there will not be. The MFT mount is the same as that on the GH5/s and will function with OLYMPUS lenses

Q: 8. Is this camera strictly manual focus?

A: No, the camera has AF features and a very sophisticated tracking mode.

Q: 9. With an adapter or Speedbooster, would an Atlas Orion lens fit onto this camera? I've ran into issues before where a lens will "technically" adapt but the rear element protrudes too far into the camera body.

A: Atlas Orion series lenses have published specs that state that they work with E-mount or Micro 4/3 camera with appropriate adapters.

Q: 10. Is there a way to remotely turn the camera on and off using the Ethernet connection?

A: If you turn it off remotely, you can turn it back on as well.
