This filter is constructed from polyester. When used, the Lee Filters 100 x 100mm Polyester 80C Light Balancing Filter's 0.3 density darkens the entire image by 1 stop. A: This lens is very heavy. It does not need a support however. Usually when I shoot with this one, I hold the lens instead of the camera body (hard to explain, but the lens takes the weight, not the body.) I spite of the weight, this is a spectacular lens. The color and sharpness are vibrant. The bokeh is just the softest (even with high f stop). Worth the weight.
