Op/tech Usa Hood Hat, Large

Op/tech Usa Hood Hat, Large
  • Product Code: ga2606
  • Availability: In Stock

$38.97 $58.45

The black, large OP/TECH USA Hood Hat is designed to fit a lens and shade with a diameter from approximately (10.2 to 11.4 cm). Simply placing the Hood Hat onto the front of the hood while in place will provide just as much protection for the critical front lens elements as would be provided by a traditional lens cap. The neoprene material will adjust to fit both round and elliptical "petal-type" shades.

Lens hoods with significantly larger opening than the lens diameter may require larger model hood hat. This item is made in the USA.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this fit over a Haida/Nisi filter holder for 150mm square filters? If not, what is the alternative?

A: No, the OP/TECH USA Hood Hat, XXXX-Large (B&H# OPHHXXXXLB) will not fit on a 150mm filter holder. There is no cover for that holder, but you could use a drawstring felt bag such as PortaBrace Soft Padded Pouch for 9" Monitors (B&H# POPMONITOR9) if the filter doesn't protrude from the holder. The recommended option, however, is to remove the filter and holder from the lens because they are fragile.

Q: 2. I have lenses for a Sony a6000. The lens diameters indicate I buy the micro size, but the hood diameters suggest the mini size. Which measurement should I go by?

A: Since I do not have the camera, I cannot say exactly, but I think it depends on how lose you want the hat to fit. They are supposed to stretch onto the lens, so you want to buy one that is smaller than the lens diameter. But I know myself that they can be hard to put on if they are too snug and require too much stretching. But then they stay on better, of course, so it IS hard to tell. I think I'd go with the smaller one, especially if the lens is shallow - i.e. not very long. If the hat is too big and just kind of loosely holding on, it will probably be falling off if the lens isn't very long. Just MHO.

Q: 3. Will this fit a Leica Q2 Monochrom with hood attached?

A: The OP/TECH USA Hood Hat, Mini is designed to cover interchangeable lenses with a diameter of 2.5-3.0". This would be more than sufficient for the Leica Q2 Monochrom Digital Camera: B&H # LEQ2M.

Q: 4. Will the XL version of these work well with a Nikon 70-200 2.8 and 24-70 2.8? The large fits but requires 2 hands to take on and off as it is pretty snug.

A: No, I'm afraid the XL will be too big and fall off as you're moving. I use the XL on y Sigma 105 f/1.4 hood and its a lot bigger than the 70-200 hood. I use the L over the hood of the 70-200, 24-70, & 17-35 without issue. If you want one for use without the hood, the M seems to fit. Be aware that after walking in the hot sun, they do stretch quite a bit and become a lot looser.

Q: 5. What is the purpose of the tab on the side?

A: The tab on the side is to help pull the Hood Hat down more easily.

Q: 6. Will this fit a 58 mm diameter lens

A: It's a bit tight, but yes it does fit on a 58mm lens.

Q: 7. Will the XL size work with the LEE SW 150 lens adapters?

A: Yes, the OP/TECH USA Hood Hat X-Large can fit Lee SW 150 Lens Adapters.

Q: 8. Will this work on a Sigma 18-300 lens?

A: Yes, I don't know lens size,so get small and medium.I tie mine to my el bracket and use it for different lenses.,without loosing it like lens caps . I leave some in your bag and drop my lens into it.Stan

Q: 9. Will it fit Rokinon 14mm f/2.8 Series II Lens for Nikon F?

A: Yes it will fit that lens.

Q: 10. Will this stretch to fit a Canon 100-500 lens?

A: The OP/TECH USA Hood Hat, Medium should fit directly on a Canon 100-500mm lens, but I recommend the OP/TECH USA Hood Hat, Large (https://bhpho.to/3T0XKtT) instead.

It fits snuggly over the lens hood of my Sigma 150-600 C lens and offers good protection when installed. It is easily removed when required.

I photograph outdoor events like rodeos and horse sales. My go to lens is a 70-200. Dealing with a lens hood is a hassle and takes time away from getting the shot. These hoods work really well in protecting the lens with hood attached and quick removal. I can also stuff the removed hood in my pocket. I am buying more

I have a few of these, they fit nicely, I like them better for protection than the Nikon lens caps. They are also easy to put in a front pocket for quick storage.

I like this hood when I take the camera with a long lens out in the field. I like it because it is easy to put on and remove from the lens hood, I leave on the lens while I am out shooting and moving around. Just pull the tab to remove the hood and you are ready to shoot. Just slip the hood over the hood using the tab and you are ready to move to another location. A great buy for the price.

This flexible lens cover is just the thing to keep EVERYTHING out of the front of the lens. The price is very low and it is well made. Protect your expensive lens AND keep the cost down. The quality and price of ALL of the OP/TECH USA 'hood hats' can't be beat. I have six of them and they are all the final answer on my equipment.

I keep the lens hood on my camera and this goes over the hood. Easier than messing with a lens cap. I do a lot of back road travel where it gets very dusty. I have found that the dust accumulating on the front of the lens causes focusing problems. The hood hat means less cleaning.
