Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Would this lens work with the Canon 80D?

A: I have a Canon 80D and the lens works great with this camera.

Q: 2. has anyone used this lens on the nikon d850?

A: I also have the lens on a D750, and I have found the quality of the pictures at different focal lengths to be excellent.

Q: 3. How will this lens compare to the Tamron 70-200 2.8 G2 lens for sharpness and image quality?

A: This lens is not designed to have similar image quality to the Tamron 70-200mm f/2.8 G2 lens. It is a mid-grade telephoto zoom, and the 70-200mm G2 is a professional grade telephoto zoom. This will be smaller, lighter, and more versatile with its wider range of focal lengths. But the 70-200mm G2 will be superior in image quality and sharpness.

Q: 4. Borrowed this lens for use on Nikon D7200 last weekend. Two odd problems, both while using auto aspect (set at P). When depressing the shutter release to auto focus, I got a red haze around the edges and image would not focus through the viewer (photos came out sharper, however). Second, relying on auto, I was sharply over exposing the photograph. Giving priority to shutterspeed and manually increasing the speed three or four times resulted in correct exposure. Is this a matter of the lens not mating well with the D7200, or a problem with some setting on the camera?

A: As far as the exposure is concerned, it sounds like the exposure compensation has been altered which can still effect exposure when shooting in Programmed Auto. In regards to the haze, this is not an issue that we have come across, if you has been shooting is bright sunlight, it could be flare through the viewfinder. If the issues persist, I would email askbh@bhphoto.com to further troubleshoot.

Q: 5. Is a case included with the lens?

A: no

Q: 6. I currently shoot with a Nikon D7200. I currently use the Nikor 55-300 kit lens for wildlife photography. Especially birds in Florida It's time to upgrade and the Tamron 100-400 seems like a good possibility. However, I'm wondering how much of a difference I'll see between the Nikor 55-300 and the Tamron 100-400? Both in terms of overall quality and long range picture taking. I'm looking for something in the 400-500 focal length range. My other alternative is the Nikor 200-500 which seems to be a very good lens but a beast to carry around. Any thoughts on whether the Tamron 100-400 is a significant step up for me or should I go with Nikor 200-500?

A: The Tamron 100-400 is good lightweight lens and will give you 35% more magnification. Ideally the Nikon 200-500 or Tamron 150-600 would be ideal for photographing birds. You need the magnification range for wildlife.

Q: 7. Does anyone have experience using this lens for video capture? Im looking for a longer zoom lens to use with a Canon C100 Mark II.

A: works great.got some amazing shots with it.I use a Nikon D500.

Q: 8. Does it come with the tripod collar or is that an extra accessory?

A: It's optional.

Q: 9. Does this lens work on the Nikon Z 6 and Z 7?

A: If you add the FTZ lens adapter to the Z6/7, you in effect make them the same as a Nikon DSLR. Therefore, since this lens is for a Nikon DSLR, it will work with the Z6/7 without issue.

Q: 10. In Comparison With Tamron 70-210, Which One Has The Edge In Terms Of Image Quality And AF Performance !?

A: The main attributes which sets these two lenses apart are the zoom range and the maximum aperture. The Tamron 70-210mm f/4 Di VC USD Lens offer a constant aperture of f/4 through its zoom range, however it does not have a longer range like the Tamron 100-400mm f/4.5-6.3 Di VC USD Lens. Otherwise, both lenses offer great image quality. The right choice for you would depend on how close you need to get and what type of conditions you will be shooting in.
