A: Diopter Adjustment -3 to +3 on the right eyepiece only.

Q: 2. What is different about the second generation upgrade?

A: The newer model has Vari-angle prism image stabilization system uses a combination of gyro sensors and microprocessor to adjust the angle for stabilization. The older model does not have this newer processor. Also the newer model has improved their image and glass quality. The eye adjusting construction is easier to use as well from what I have heard.

A: Yes the model does come with a User's Manual in the box.

Q: 4. Does it include the manufacturer's warranty?

Q: 5. Does this attach with velcro?

Q: 6. Do the 10x30's have a tripod socket?

A: NOT NECESSEY

Q: 7. What is the country of manufacture?

A: Made in Japan

Q: 8. Do the Canon IS 10x30's have a tripod socket?

A: No, there is no tripod socket.

Q: 9. Weatherproof?

A: It is not. But included in the box is a Ocular Rainguard.

Q: 10. Will the binoculars work if the IS batteries go flat. What type of batteries ?

A: This question arrives at an opportune time. We're on the west coast, birding. I love these binoculars for birding. To answer your questions, runs on two AA batteries. Binocs work without batteries, but the stabilization mechanism does not work without the batteries. The stabilization mechanism is one of the desired features of these binocs. We're thinking about buying a second pair, since we both want to use these binocs.

I've done tests of several models of 10X30s and 10X42s and the Nikon Monarch 5, 7, and HG line tend to be the best at their respective price points. I tested these versus some other models and they had the best image at this price point, and I enjoyed the small size. I ended up increasing my budget though and went with the Zeiss SFL 10X30. But if you had a $500 budge I would go with these if you want a really small size or the best option would be the 10X42.

These are amazing - so light and compact! They fit easily into some extra space in my camera backpack. Optics and build quality are to Nikon standards. The smaller lenses will be fine for me - no lack of light on the water, where I will be using them most. Minimum focus distance is so short - should I look at bugs or something? Edge clarity might still need some dialing in...will tweak that over time.
