I have had this for a few weeks now and have been getting a lot of great pictures from it. I started with everything on auto and have been gradually using additional features. On full auto, I have gotten great pictures (landscapes, waterfalls, sunsets, sports...) and have been really happy as I start using some manual functions as well. The zoom has been great for some wildlife pictures (wood herons, otters...).
I will definitely get years of good use (and great pictures) out of this camera.

Photography is a hobby for me and I needed a better camera for an upcoming trip. This camera was recommended by several professional photographers-some who use this camera exclusively. I'm still learning, but I am so impressed with the quality of pictures and ease of use. The bundle was helpful-I had everything I needed to get started right away.

I bought Sony RX10m4 in 2017 and has been using it for over 5 years for travel photography and occasional video. It is the best bridge camera that combines reasonable quality sensor (type 1) with exceptional zoom, good build, reasonable size and weight. When I am on the go, I cannot imagine shlepping full-frame camera with all the glass and weight for a similar zoom range. Unfortunately, battery life is not great. I always carry 3 spare batteries with me.

I was looking for an all-in-one camera that I could take on hikes,
bike rides and walks in the city and shoot both wide shots then go to telephoto mode quickly. I live in the South; it's excruciating to do anything in the humid summer, when your backpack contains two cameras and several (I have a Fuji system). After looking at all the advanced point and shoot choices, I selected the Sony RX10IV and I'm still learning all the menus and settings. I am pleased with the photos I have taken; I think the Zeiss lens makes for a good quality photograph.

I bought this camera primarily for bird photos. I already have a Canon SX65 which I have used for 10+ years and obtained lots of great shots. I found that the more powerful zoom, up to 65x on the Canon, led to taking lots of poor photos with noise, blur and poor focus when zoomed in. My best photos were all taken at 600mm or less. The Sony RX10 has a much larger sensor and when taking photos at 600mm I found with the image stabilization that my photos were incredibly sharp. I like the portability and the strong zoom of 25x which is all my handheld photography can manage. The camera is light enough to carry all day with a shoulder strap. I have included a few photos from my first two weeks of ownership. I love this camera!

I got this for traveling. I have a few full frame Sony cameras with a variety of lenses. I wanted something easier to carry. I have been playing with this and very happy with the results.

I am familiar with SLR cameras but I didn't want to have to carry and swap lenses. I wanted a camera to take on trips, which could take a macro or close-up, portraits, or zoom in on birds and other wildlife quickly for a shot. This one lives up to its reputation as one of the best bridge cameras for point and shoot use, with manual capabilities for experienced photographers.
It's a bit heavy, but light enough to carry on my neck (in its case) while mountain biking on light trails. I am able to stop my bike and take shots from the seat. It's not a burden on a ride or a hike, but you might want a sling bag or similar for city use.
It takes great photos easily. I can flip a switch and change the aperture to take photos using depth of field, and then flip back for quick autofocus shots. The autofocus can be difficult at full zoom, but that could be because I need practice at holding it steady.

The battery lasts, and a 64GB memory card holds 5000 images, so you don't need a lot of spares for most trips. Because the included charger only works with the battery inserted into the camera, I might invest in extra batteries and a separate charger.
My only minor complaints:
You can't review photos without fully powering on the camera and extending the lens. The lens will retract when the sleep timer goes off, but you can keep reviewing photos with it closed.

The mobile and desktop apps for remote control and downloading photos are terrible, at least for Mac. I have managed to send a photo from the camera to my phone, but it's a tedious and unintuitive process. You'd think there would be an automatic cloud upload since the camera is Wi-Fi enabled, but no. The easiest way is to remove the card and plug it into a computer.
The camera itself is everything I wanted it to be.
