Q: 1. Which L-Bracket will work with this?

A: Click the link below to view; https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/search?q=a73%20l%20bracket&filters=fct_camera-compatibility_6438%3Asony-a7-iii&searchWithin=grip

Q: 2. Does the bottom of the Center Column facilitate a Hook ?The pictures show what appears to be a cap on the bottom.

A: I have this tripod, and I do not have a hook. There is a plastic plug with a recessed thread. I could not determine the size, but it is significantly larger than 1/4x20. It might even be metric. The plastic plug is held in by a very tiny screw through the carbon tube. Even if I found a hook that fit I would hesitate to use too much weight.

Q: 3. Is it necessary to purchase any additional parts to mount a ballhead with the center column removed?

A: You can remove the center column on the Gitzo Mountaineer series without removing the mounting platform using it's "Ground Level" center column release feature. If you do it this way, you can keep the head on the tripod without dismounting it to remove most of the center column for ground-level photography.

Q: 4. Robert K (staff), any chance you can upload a photo with the RRS BH-30 attached and the legs folded?

A: Unfortunately, we only have the images provided to us by the manufacturer.

Q: 5. I cannot decide between the Gitzo GT1542 or the GT2542 Mountaineers, I'll be using a RRS BH-40 PCLR ballhead and a RRS L-Plate in combination, any suggestions?

A: I love the 2 series Gitzo Mountaineer. The 1 series is lighter, but I found the 2 series more stable toshoot with. Very sturdy and beautifully made.

Q: 6. is there a thread at the bottom that can accept tripod legs?

A: The foot is not removable.

Q: 7. How do I turn off the alarm sounding every time the RAID synchronizes?

A: The mute button is located on the far right of where the buttons are located. You can find it on page 10 in the manual:a href= http://static.bhphotovideo.com/lit_files/103819.pdf target= _blank http://static.bhphotovideo.com/lit_files/103819.pdf/a

Q: 8. There are two Thunderbolt inputs on the back, are both required to use in Raid5?

A: No... you only need 1 in order to run Raid 5.

Q: 9. Does the 3 lb weight of the tripod include the center column?

A: Yes the weight included the center column.

Q: 10. When using RAID 10 (aka 1+0), what can be done with the fifth drive? I'm leaning towards two units; both RAID 10. First unit will be a main working unit and I'd like the fifth drive to be a hot-spare. Second unit will be my backup unit and I want the fifth drive to be available to copy certain critical files to (I'll then swap it out with a blank drive and take the filled drive to an offsite backup location). Over time, I'll keep trading the fifth drives when updating the offsite backup. Thank you. Side note: I've downloaded the various documentation from LaCie, but have not found any details on RAID 10 configurations.

A: Not certain that the hot spare can actively be used. While not invalid, using the second unit as backup seems very conservative. Also your backup unit should have more capacity than your primary to allow for file variations and history. You could use the 2nd version in Raid 0 configuration or use a simpler JBod enclosure. As for the offsite backup - a pair of simple Lacie Rugged drives that you alternate seem to be more cost effective and easier to handle.
