The 55mm High-Transmission Circular Polarizing Multi-Coated Filter from Heliopan can turn an average shot into a "keeper". With its renowned Schott glass composition and resilient black brass filter ring, this filter offers you features that make it well-worth the investment for both traditional film and digital shooters.

Heliopan has incorporated High-Transmission technology into this filter. It will pass 99.8% of the light passing through it with only a 1-stop loss of light and with no color change to the image. In addition, their highly regarded SH-PMC 16-layer multi-coating (8-layers on each side) gives the filter an edge when it comes to durability, flare reduction as well as dust and moisture-resistance. Anyone who wants to shoot landscapes will find this filter is excellent when it comes to enhancing the blue of the sky as well as making the clouds more distinct. On water, you'll use it to eliminate reflections. And, again, with its substantial multi-coated protection, you'll find it easier to clean when spray or dirt land on the glass surface.

This filter is also unique in design since its black brass filter ring is indexed so that if you're not using a traditional SLR, you'll be able to set the rotating ring to a precise setting each time you wish to achieve the same degree of polarization. The brass composition of the filter ring is a benefit since it is less prone to jamming when placing or removing it.

Heliopan has been a leader in the filter industry since 1949. They are known for their high quality and production standards. Heliopan offers most of their filters with either their standard hard coating or with their industry leading SH-PMC 16-layer multi-coating that transmits over 98.8% of the light striking it on the image plane for the lowest flare and greatest color saturation.

The effect of the filter is greatest at a 90° angle to the sun

Reflections are eliminated resulting in greater color saturation

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. How does it compare with sigma 18-35 Art?

A: The Sigma lens is sharper and brighter with a wider f/1.8 aperture, and has a shorter zoom range.

Q: 2. Recommended ND Filter? We just got this lens and we plan to use it with our Sony A7S II in Slog3 mode. Since Slog3 has a minimum 1600 IS0 issue, we surely need an ND filter for even late evening shots. I wanted to ask if you would suggest a budget ND filter compatible with this lens. It would be nice to be able use it both in the daytime and early in the evening.

A: The Tiffin ND are great. Both from quality and price prospective.

Q: 3. I have a canon 80d and I use the 50mm 1.8 but wanted to upgrade and get this lens is it a good one or you guys could recommend something better because I need to take my blogging game to the next level

A: Just bought this lens for use on my 7DmkII and it is worth every single penny. You can believe all you read about its sharpness across the range, fast zoom, and build quality. Two concerns from me:- For $900 bucks you'd expect a lens hood for crying out loud.- No lock? Lens creep hasn't been an issue yet but the lens is brand new. People complain about the weight but I typically carry a 100-400L or 70-200L 2.8 so this lens is a featherweight for me.Throw on an extension tube (or not) and it shoots decent macro as well. It's a must have if you're a crop sensor fan, which I am.

Q: 4. Does it compatible with 6D?

A: No It isnt, You need a full frame lens, with EF Mount, no EF-S.

Q: 5. Hi, Does it work with RED Epic DSMC EF mount camera? Does the IS work on this camera?

A: This does work with the RED DSMC EF mount. As far as image stabilization you do maintain IS with image stabilized compatible lenses.

Q: 6. Does this lens allow Autofocus in video mode on Sony A7Riii?

A: Yes

Q: 7. Is any difference that the lenses come with free filter but the same the price

A: The lenses are exactly the same. We offer one kit with a free filter so you get more for your money. Besides, who doesn't like free stuff?

Q: 8. Is there any reason why this lens wouldn't be awesome or photographing the Northern Lights in AK?

A: This is my primary lens, from portraits, landscapes or street. For Northern Lights? That is IT! for sure

Q: 9. is there much of a noticible difference when using this lens vs the Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS II Lens?

A: The main difference with this lens is the Stepping Motor for quiet autofocus while shooting video. Otherwise, the optical quality is the same as the Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS II.

Q: 10. Is compatible with canon 6D mark II?

A: No, the Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/4-5.6 IS STM Lens is not compatible with the Canon EOS 6D Mark II DSLR Camera (Body Only).
