Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this lens have the capability of choosing between variable rate and linear manual focusing? Thank you!

A: The lens does not. Any focus changes are dictated by the camera it is attached to.

Q: 2. Is the calibration dock necessary? Shouldn't the lens be sharp out of the box?

A: Yes, in my experience it has been necessary to fine tune the focus on all three of my Sigma lenses. You can do in camera adjustments for each lens but it wont be a good as when using the usb dock because the dock allows lenses to be calibrated at different focal lengths. Plus when I bought my Sigma 50mm from B&H the dock came with it. Good luck!

Q: 3. I'm interested in buying the 135mm f1.8. But I heard about focus issues in the Art series. How can I be sure that I won't receive a bad copy? I'm in guam and I don't want to experience the hassle of sending back a bad copy and wait for a replacement.

A: Thank you for your interest in Sigma products. Due to the variation between the lenses and the DSLR cameras, it might be necessary to calibrate the AF to your camera. Most high end Nikon cameras feature AF Fine Tune in camera's menu so the user can easily calibrate the AF to the camera for any back or front focus deviation.

Q: 4. What is the maximum distance (center to center) for the two 1/4"-20 screws?

A: The maximum distance (center to center) of the two 1/4"-20 screws on the Kirk KLP-310-2NL Lens Plate for Nikon 200mm f/4 ED IF AF Micro and Select Sony Lenses is 32mm.

Q: 5. Will Sigma make Sony A mount of this lens ? I think it's nice to mount on A99 II : )

A: Possibly. We have no information from Sigma at this time. Try contacting SIGMA directly for details regarding future product releases:Marketing Department: 631-227-2017 https://a href= http://www.sigmaphoto.com/about-sigma/contact-us/ target= _blank www.sigmaphoto.com/about-sigma/contact-us//a

Q: 6. Will this work for video with a camera that doesn't have image stabilization either? I'm worried about the micro-jitters. Telephoto lenses tend to pronounce vibrations. I'm always on a monopod, tripod, or gimbal for reference.

A: Yes it will.

Q: 7. is this a weather sealed lens?

A: The 20mm f/1.4 is not weather sealed, no.

Q: 8. I am really torn between getting this great lens or the Nikon 50 f/1.4G. For those of you who really like the Sigma 50, what can you tell me about it specifically that will make me want to buy it over the Nikon 50 1.4G?

A: There are pros and cons. The Nikon 50 is not as sharp and slow focusing, but it can AF in low light. The Sigma is sharper, focus fast but can't AF as well in low light. Maybe 50% hit and miss. Doesn't work will with Nikon flash system too. Also may have issues in movie mode. Maybe the bokeh is better on the Nikon too. I'll get the Sigma for landscape where you manual focus and need sharp images, but I would not use it on important assignments where you have low light situations. The Nikon maybe a better all round lens but i find it out dated.

Q: 9. will auto aperture work on a Sony E mount when in shutter priority mode?

A: Yes, the Sigma 24mm f/1.4 DG DN Art Lens for Sony E transfers the auto aperture information on the Sony Mirrorless cameras.

Q: 10. What warranty does sigma provide
