Q: 1. Im looking for an affordable zoom to do weddings as a 2nd shooter. A 70-200 is just not possible for me right now. I know this lens is mainly for outdoor but could it be used for indoor in a pinch such as exchanging vows photos from back of church and candid close ups of people across the room?

A: In my 15 years of experience shooting weddings in the north east and dark churches I would advise you to save your money for a fast lens such as 85 1.2 or even the 85 1.8 and save your money for the 70 to 200 2.8 and rent one in the meantime.

Q: 2. what country is this lens made and does it have a plastic or metal mount?

A: According to the information we have, our current inventory's Country of Origin is Malaysia. Please be aware this can change over the product's production life without notice. The lens mount is plastic.

Q: 3. Will this lkens fit into a Cannon Rebel EOS S?

A: Unfortunately, the EF-S 55-250mm lens is not compatible with the Canon EOS Rebel S. The EF-S lenses are not compatible with Canon full frame DSLRs or 35mm film SLR cameras. For the Rebel S, you would need an EF mount lens.

Q: 4. Could it be used for a canon t6i?

A: Yes it can! I use the t6

Q: 5. Does it fit a canon m50?

A: No, the Canon RF-S 55-210mm f/5-7.1 IS STM Lens (BH #CA55210RFS) is an RF-mount lens and would only with bodies that have an RF mount. The Canon M50 has an EF-M mount.

Q: 6. Does this lens fit on Canon t8i?

A: No, the Canon RF-S 55-210mm f/5-7.1 IS STM Lens (Canon RF) is design for Canon Mirrorless cameras only. Canon design the Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS STM Lens for DSLR cameras with APSC sensors. This lens is fully compatible with your Canon EOS Rebel T8i DSLR Camera. Please review the link below to view this lens. https://bhpho.to/4cGDVAe

Q: 7. can I use this on a Canon AE1? and if not, what are my options

A: This lens cannot be used on a Canon AE1. Found this note online:The AE-1 has a Canon FD breech-lock lens mount and accepts any FD or New FD (FDn) lens. It is not compatible with Canon's later Canon EF (or EF-S) lens mount. As far options, you could consider selling it and use the funds to purchase some used FD lenses. You will find that the FD lenses are much less expensive than EF Lenses. There are several sites out there that sell used FD lenses including B&H. They may even accept your current lens as a trade in. Took a quick look at the B&H used site and found this FD lens for $40 bucks:Canon Zoom Telephoto 70-150mm f/4.5 FD Manual Focus Lens Hope it works out for you!

Q: 8. Is compatible with canon 80d?

A: This lens works exceptionally well with the 80D. Canon's IS system really shines in this application.

Q: 9. Is this lens compatible with Canon Rebel SL1?

A: Yes. This lens will be compatible with any Canon crop sensor camera. The Rebel SL1 is a crop sensor camera. Good luck.

Q: 10. Is this lens good for studio strobe work, where the ambient light is low?

A: The EF-S 55-250mm is a telephoto lens that requires lots of light and is used mostly for outdoors. I would recommend a faster lens for low light, a Sigma f/1.8 18-35mm lens for Canon in your studio. This lens produces very impressive pictures under low light conditions and has comparable DXO Mark scores equivalent to $2,000 lenses.

Puchased this for my daughter instead of the 85/300 as it had much better reviews here and other forums. I was impressed with the image quality. A little disconerting, being an STM lense, was that you cannot focus it unless camera is turned on. Once I knew that no worries!

I bought this lens as a gift...Like all Canon products, it does the job and does it well. The lens works well, is quick and quiet and lets me have more options to get interesting shots from a greater distance....

This lens is great for distance shots! I took a photo of shore birds with it that turned out nice. I appreciate the ease in attaching the lens to the Canon body.

After my 70-300 f/4-5.6 was stolen, I really struggled over what to replace it with. It was between the Tamron 70-300, my original 70-300, and this one. Price wasn't a major factor, but sharpness was. My Canon 70-300 was always sharp, even at 300, but the Tamron had mixed reviews on that front which narrowed things down. I ended up trying this lens instead of going back to the old 70-300 for three reasons. First, I really liked the compact size; second, it overcame a frequent issue with the old lens of 70mm being just a bit too long when wanting to do a quick portrait or using in closer quarters. 55mm is so much better. Finally, reviews made it sound like this was an extremely sharp lens. So, with prospects of getting a 100-400mm lens soon to cover the 300mm+ range, I decided on this one as my walk-around zoom. Already it has proved itself excellent and every bit as sharp as the reviews suggested. Arguably, this is sharper than the old 70-300, and so much lighter and compact. This is a neat lens, and the excellent image stabilization is just icing on the cake.

In addition to my other Canon bodies and lenses, I own the EOS M3 and the EF and EFS lens adapter, which is needed to use this lens with the M3. I have found that my M3 has become my go to camera body for taking hikes and in applications where weight is a factor. Needing a medium range telephoto lens, I purchased the EF-S 55-250mm lens. While this lens certainly is a lower price range lens, it performs rather well. And, I was pleasantly surprised to find that, with the Vello 10mm and 16mm extension rings available from B&H it does a very respectable job as a macro lens. The bottom line is that I am very happy with the lens.

I had a 55-250 a year ago, and also had a 70-300. I decided to sell the 55-250 thinking the 70-300 would satisfy my desire for a bit more reach without sacrificing image quality. After all, the 70-300 was more substantial in size, build, and weight, and the IS was nothing short of amazing. However, images of wildlife weren't consistently sharp, or bright, and most had a softness that could have been right for portraiture, but not wildlife. Similar images (subject, distance, ISO, aperture, shutter speed) using a Nikon 55-300, on a D5500 were noticeably sharper, and brighter. I pulled up images captured with my old 55-250, and found they were superior to similar images taken with the 70-300. So, I've sold the 70-300, purchased a new 55-250, and will use my feet to make up the focal length difference. The 55-250 is quite a bit lighter, fits in my bag when it's on my camera body as well as when it's off, and the IQ is, in my opinion is consistently better than what I was able to get from the 70-300.

I wanted a telephoto to round out my standard 18-135mm STM that I ordered with a new EOS 70D, a wide angle 11-17mm and a 60mm Macro. I have not had much opportunity to use it in the environment targeted: that is, while sailing on a smaller yacht and capturing other sailboats and scenery on shore. The 55-250mm range provides what I need, and of course the IS feature is critical. This is a lightweight lens, lighter than the 18-135mm, which surprised me, and makes it suitable for packing in on hikes in the mountains. It also happens to accept a polarizing filter I used for years with a film camera, and because the mounting barrel does not rotate as the focal length is zoomed, it works well with that filter (not being a circular polarizer). My first several photos are crisp and clear and I foresee many beautiful shots in my future!
