The 105mm (Coarse Thread) T1 Infrared Filter from Tiffen is a high-tech filter targeted towards eliminating infrared contamination at 680nm. This filter will assist you in maintaining your color spectrum when shooting against a dark fabric. You will notice the blacks turn out true with no color cast from the red end of the spectrum.

This filter has been created to help capture a much broader spectrum of color than previous infrared filters - particularly with digital camcorders.  Color shift is a critical factor in digital photography especially when dealing with the infrared spectrum - and even more important when shooting with HD technology.
Unlike traditional film cameras, CCD or CMOS sensors of a digital camera are, by nature, susceptible to infrared contamination. Manufacturers try to avoid this problem by incorporating an infrared absorbing filter on top of the image sensor. Because these filters do not have a sharp cutoff at the infrared wavelengths there has to be a compromise in order not to exclude visible red wavelengths. Despite these precautions, some infrared wavelengths pass through resulting in contamination of the image.

Tiffen's Water White glass, using their ColorCore Technology, is characterized by a high transmission quality. Typically, it will transmit 98-99% of the light. It also features an anti-glare and anti-reflective quality that makes it useful in a wide range of uses including the movie theater industry, store and art displays. The glass is virtually defect-free and is becoming more and more prevalent in digital equipment.

Q: 4. I have a 50D Canon, will this lens work for general and landscape photography. Or can you suggest another lens.

A: This lens is fully compatible with the 50D, however with the 1.6x magnification factor, the 24mm wide angle focal (now about 38mm) is not sufficently wide for impressive landscapes. For the 50D I would recommend Canon's 17-55mm f2.8 IS lens, which would give you the wide angle aspect for landscapes and provide you with a nice portrait focal and a fast/constant f2.8 aperture. See the link below for details on the lens:http://bhpho.to/1eZavst

I use it with my D90 on a tripod for night shots and other situations that require long exposure times without camera shake. Works flawlessly as long as you remember to set your camera to remote control mode.

This product worked right out of the box. I did not know that it came with a case and battery, so I bought those unnecessary items.

I purchased this for my D7000. Fantastic remote with this camera particularly, due to the D7000's front AND back IR receivers; so I can stand behind the camera and trigger the shutter. For what it costs, why not? It is great to break out of that 30 second shutter cap.

This device is very handy. At less than $20 it does everything you would want it to do. It is great for macro shooting, allowing you to trigger the shutter without touching the camera. I never leave home without it.

For what this costs it is something everyone should have. Instead of trying to take a picture with the timer you can control the shutter while you stand in the group shot. No more running to get in place and not knowing when the camera will really go off. It works well and I have not issues with the device.

Excellent accessory to shoot pictures when my D7000 is on a tripod and avoid any shake if the shutter on the camera was pressed.
