A: It is a pop up device that is easy to open. You can even make that the camera shuts down when you close it (push it down, super easy). It is part of the camera of course, but pops up from the top. I find it extremely convenient and it is a must have for me. During bright conditions it is not easy to look at the screen only, and I have progressive lenses, so it breaks my neck to do it. I love the VF. It is very bright, you can adjust the focus for your eye correction.

A: You will get a little low depth of field. But, nothing like an APS-C or larger sensor camera with a lens that is f/2.8 or faster.
