A: yes to both. The flash sits on a bracket and bulb is angled into the box so no weight is on swivel which is the smart way. Using speed rings with boxes, keeps weight on the swivel and i've rebuilt my swivels on both my quantums 4-6 times each. I have a beautiful metal beauty dish with a detachable metal honey comb grid for my Quantum also. That fits into the bulb socket as any reflector would. I don't remember where I bought it. This Box though that is listed, is really nice light and I questioned the price but I have two now. I've bought the $50 pop out type and they don't hold up, nor is the light near as nice. This travel with me.

Q: 10. I'd like to use a threaded bolt to mount this to the ring mount on my macro lens so I can use it to hold my 2 small macro flash heads. I don't think the mounting unit is threaded, it just slips over the tripod bolt? If so, would it be possible to attach to the ring mount?

A: You're correct - the rig itself has no threads and is wedged between the Joby legs and the head (as depicted) or any item you would attach to the legs directly. The Joby 3K and 5K are both 1/4"-20 and come with 3/8"-16 bushing adapters, so they will fit almost every typical photo accessory out there. The upgrade mounting ring will then sit between the Joby legs and your ring light as long as its protuberances don't get in the way of your ring light fitting.
