Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. When using Epson's Velvet Fine Art Paper how do you tell which side to print on?

A: Epson packages the paper inside of a strong cardboard container and inside a strong plastic sleeve. The clear sleeve is marked with Print this Side . So one will know which side to print. It is wise to keep the paper in the right order and inside of sleeve. If by chance one needs to identify which side to print, put the paper near a strong light source - up close at a sharp angle. The printable side will have a finer even texture than the back which will have a slightly more coarse texture with a faint screen pattern. Also the printable side is slightly whiter that the back. One can gauge this whiteness by laying another piece of velvet paper on and comparing.

Q: 2. Can this paper be signed with a pen or pencil?

A: Yes, the Epson Velvet Fine Art Paper (13 x 19", 20 Sheets) can be signed on with a pen or pencil.

Q: 3. I see that this paper contains OBA. Will the paper yellow over time? Is it considered an archival paper?

A: It is rated archival, used in museums and exhibitions.

Q: 4. Is this paper archival?

A: Yes, this is archival grade paper.

Q: 5. Since it has a matte finish, I'm supposed to use matte black ink. What will happen if I use gloss black?

A: If you print with photo black on the print, the ink will not stick properly and it will be a mess. The black will also not look correct. The printer does not recognize the paper loaded into it so you must select the correct profile.

Q: 6. What is the size of the Core in this roll? WQill this work on the Epson p400?

A: This has a 3 core, and it would work on the Epson p400.

Q: 7. is there anyway to determine the print side? I took it out of the plastic before checking and am not sure if I put it back right

A: Regarding the Canon Premium Fine Art Smooth Photo Paper (8.5 x 11", 25 Sheets), try flipping the top sheet over and comparing the back of the top sheet with the next sheet in the stack. The brighter of the two sides would be the print side.

Q: 8. Which settings should I use in my Pixmia Pro 200? "Matte" or "Heavy Art Paper" ?

A: The matte setting is recommended.

Q: 9. Is the finish matte, semi-gloss, gloss or something else? The description doesn't say on B&H or on Canon's website.

A: Premium Fine Art Smooth Photo Paper (13 x 19-, 25 Sheets) is a smooth matte paper.

Q: 10. I'm printing on an Epson Photo R2400 and always use 13 x 19 Velvet Fine Art paper that I load in the back. Does the 8.5 x 11 load in the back or top?

A: Load it in the back as well. It might go through the auto feeder but you wouldn't want to try it with more than one sheet because of it's weight/thickness. It's simple, always use the single sheet method that you use with the larger sheets. It's my favorite paper, just made some large prints, over 108 using velvet.
