The Heliopan 105mm RG 645 Infrared Filter is designed to help capture images of how a subject reflects or transmits infrared light.

Infrared light waves occupy the space in the electromagnetic spectrum behind visible light due to their longer wavelengths. Many surfaces and materials react to, or emit infrared light waves differently than visible light waves, which provide the potential for photographs of subjects or subject properties that are otherwise invisible to the human eye. Such images require an infrared-sensitive medium such as infrared film or a digital photographic sensor which may be more effective when used without the infrared-blocking filters that are frequently built over them.

Conventional light sources such as the sun, photographic strobes, or incandescent lighting may be used to provide infrared illumination. However, because infrared films or digital photographic sensors can be more sensitive to the relatively higher energy and shorter-wavelength visible light those sources also emit, the effects of infrared light can be otherwise obscured. The Heliopan 105mm RG 645 Infrared Filter makes it possible to capture images of how subjects are illuminated by infrared light by blocking near-infrared, visible, and ultraviolet light waves while allowing 90% of infrared light waves 645nm or greater into the lens it is mounted onto.

This filter is constructed from Schott glass for increased optical clarity and features a thin brass filter ring to minimize the potential for vignetting while enhancing durability and jamming prevention.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does the replace the Nikon 135mm?

A: The Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 105mm f/1.4E ED Lens is a similar focal length to the Nikon 135mm lens; it doesn't replace it, it's just a different focal length.

Q: 2. what is white box?

A: White Box merchandise comes supplied in a plain white box, instead of the manufacturer's colorful packaging. It still includes all the manufacturer's accessories and is covered under the 1 Year Warranty.

Q: 3. Is this a good lens for my 60D?

A: This is a great lens. Very versatile and great optics. I only use 2 lenses. This one and a Canon 2.8 70-200.

Q: 4. Hello,I would like to know how this lens performs. Being that there is no review yet, the only thing left to do is ask for your help. I will use this for the Pentax 645z that will be bought this week at your store alongside the 55mm. Is the IQ any good? It is not cheap, but half the price of the new 28-45. Is there any huge gap between the two?Thank you :)

A: The Pentax 33-55 will give you excellent image quality, with 11 elements and 8 groups, using low dispersion glass. It will give you smooth out of focus areas, with an 8 blade aperture diaphragm.

Q: 5. I'm looking to upgrade the standard EFS 18-55 lens that came with my Rebel Ti3. I read the previous post. Would the same issues apply to the Ti3? If so, can you recommend a better lens for all around, general photo taking? Thank you.

A: Yes. The 1.5x crop factor would also apply to the T3i, or any other camera which features an APS-C sized sensor. To give you a wide-angle option, I would recommend something like the Canon 17-55mm f/2.8. This lens will give you a zoom range that is similar to the 18-55mm lens, but with a much faster aperture. This would allow better exposure in low-light, and more pronounced shallow depth-of-field (background or foreground blur). You can see it here:http://bhpho.to/1jlOUiD

Q: 6. Will This Lens work with a Canon 60D body ?

A: Yes it would work with APSC and full frame cameras. Canon 60d is a APSC sensor camera and hence it will work.

Q: 7. Internal focusing?

A: Short answer: no.

Q: 8. Is this compatible with the Canon 7D?

A: Yes, all EF and EF-S lenses are compatible with the 7D.

Q: 9. Is this lens compatible with 80D as well as 5D MarkIV

A: The Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L IS Lens will be fully compatible with both the Canon 80D and the 5D IV. The EF lenses can be used on any Canon DSLR (or EOS SLR).

Q: 10. I was wondering seeing that this lens hasn't got VR on it. how would it be to shoot sports or aircraft in flight at a airshow. or racecars at a race track. Or would I be better off using the 24-70mm f2.8E ED VR lens for taking these pictures. Because of the price for these 2 lens is close to one another I'm trying to decide which lens would be the better choice. Thank You!

A: Not sure if you've actually had the chance to hold this in your hands, but despite the pictures, it is a big lens. But not that big that VR is needed. It's has a large diameter but short length. That being said I'm sure you'll find it useful for many things. However, having taken pictures of air shows (Naval Academy graduations and Andrews AFB) and race cars (Indy 500, Pocono 500 etc..) There are better lenes. At both types of events I use the Sigma 150-600mm F5-6.3 DG OS HSM | S on a tripod with a three axis head for hand held I use my Nikon V3 with the 1 NIKKOR VR 70-300 f/4.5-5.6. The Nikon 1 system is light enough to track fast moving jets, cars, and birds. I also thinking that the 105 is too short for what you're saying you want to use if for unless your within a hundred feet or so, outside that you may want to use a 200mm minimum.

This remote control does exactly what you expect from it. Use it instead of your self timer and you always will be in the picture where you want to without having to rush back 'into the scene'. Use it also for long exposures in connection with a tripod to avoid camera shake. The only(small) drawback might be, that you have to be fairly in front of the camera to use it, because of the location of the remote 'eye' on the camera. But that's something you should easily be able to work around. I was also surprised at how small this remote is. And it comes with it's own little pouch. Now if I just could remember where I put it . . . .

This little remote saves the day when taking pictures where pushing the shutter release can ruin your picture. It is compact and fits in your pocket. I was at a river taking pictures of a waterfall and it was summerged in water for several seconds. Later on that day I lost it completley in the river and managed to find it after awhile. Believe it or not, this thing still works! The only thing I wish it had was some tie to go around your wrist. It is easy to drop in areas where you are more worried about dropping your camera or tripod.

I bought the ML-L3 to use with my Nikon D-70 which does not have provision for a cable release of any sort. I use the remote primarily to release the shutter when the camera is tripod mounted as opposed to truly remote operation. It has worked very well.

Perfect for family portraits when you want to be in the photo too! This gadget does what it's supposed to. You aim it at the camera, press the button, and it takes the picture. My first time I got frustrated b/c I had set the camera (Nikon D40) on remote mode, and didn't realize it reverts back to regular mode in 1 minute. But you can change that setting so it will stay in remote mode longer. Helpful, because getting everyone situated can take a minute or two.

I don't know how I did without this before for tripod mounted shots. In fighting camera shake, every little bit helps. Beats waiting for the self-timer hands down, even for shots that I'm sitting in on. It would be nice if the Nikon D40x had a receiver for this on the back instead of the front, but this is a quibble with the camera and not the remote.

So easy to use with my D40... I would recommend it to anyone... absolutely the best $ I've ever spent!! It is small, though, so keep track of where you put it down.
